It appears Mike Pence wants to privatize Social Security, that is convert it into a 401k type of investment program with participants suffering the risk/reward traits inherent in such programs. With all attendant risks. Probably a very disturbing idea to many.

Alternatively, take (some) Soc sec benefits away from those who have abundant 401k income, instead of increasing their income taxes.
