Merry Christmas Bears, Commenters, Visitors, and Yes even Trolls . . .
3:00 PM Eastern Std Time.
Christmas Eve and my wife has made raviolis which will be our dinner along with salad and her home made Italian Dressing. Even with being achy and tired from the events impacting me this year; I am still fortunate to be enjoying a home cooked meal this year safe from the violent incursions affecting so many, to be home and not overseas staying alive while being short and counting the days to fly out, to have food on my table when so many go hungry or wait in lines at the shelters, to have a warm home in which to live with my family, to be employed making greater than median income and have other companies chasing me for my expertise, to have healthcare insurance in which to fall back upon when ill for the umpteenth time, etc. I am sure there are so many stories to be told here amongst us of how each of us are more fortunate than what we have written about, experienced, seen and know of, etc.

Ending my first year here in Southern New Mexico and the happiest I have ever been. Even though headed back to work tonight and then again tomorrow day doing Internet Chat Tech Support. (At JUST a little under median income – well over minimum anyway).
But Happy. And a week out from my 59th birthday. And as my friend Jake used to say when asked how he was: “I’m vertical and sucking air”.

My nephew is not deployed! Remember the soldiers and the wars. This week the 6 killed in Bagram were USAF in security and “investigations” jobs.
Pray they will be out of there soon. When they are all “home for Christmas”!

That is an excellent article by Dean Baker. I touched upon something of the same nature which is a far bigger threat than Medicare/Medicaid/SS and that is student loans. I haven’t posted in awhile, but let me add my holiday wishes to all.
For those of us who are safe and dry and fed, even as we recognize there are still battles to be waged, let us continue to be thankful that we can meet the challenge to help those who cannot help themselves.

Thank you, Nancy, and you, Dan, for pointing me to those two excellent articles. I wish I could, like Scrooge, just chalk up Ms. Rampell’s screed to a ‘bit of undigested beef”, but alas! It still sticks in my craw.
I was a bit surprised that Baker didn’t make a point, when mentioning the nearly decades long zero interest rates, that student debt is far more than zero percent, and, of course, can’t be discharged in bankruptcy. Still, he did a great job of pointing out her flawed arguments.
So, thanks again for the leads. Time to put back on the ‘thirsty boots’ and redouble my efforts………….
