Romney says he likes straight talk. Just not from him.
Washington may not like straight talk, but I do.
— Mitt Romney, yesterday
Sooo, Governor, about those massive tax cuts for the wealthy …. You know, including the elimination of all incomes taxes on capital gains and stock dividends, which your running mate’s budget proposal includes? How, exactly, do you plan to balance the budget despite that loss of revenue?
No, no, no. I mean, how, exactly, do you plan to do that?
When asked today, Governor Romney responded:
“Well,
I think it is time for all Americans to have the wonderful experience of taking risk. No more life jackets. It is time to learn to jump into that ocean of free market capitalism, that ocean of American enterprise and innovation. No longer should we be asking mommy for help.
No, it is time to learn that the ocean is your friend. It is your medium to life long prosperity. It is their for the willing, the risk takers, the job creators.
I want to continue the ownership society. By removing the life guards of capital gains taxes we are allowing those who’s desire is to swim deep and far in the ocean to do so. We should not restrict those of such bravery by hanging the fear represented in the act of wearing a life jacket upon them. In their actions, we find the frontier ambition that made this nation the greatest God given nation the world has experienced.
I want all Americans to have that uniquely American dream of facing risk head on. In doing so we will become an even stronger nation united in the knowing what we are confident in our abilities to harness the ocean of capitalism to each and everyone of our individual and unique desires. This is the invisible hand that the great father of capitalism: Joseph Smith.”
Chants were heard, however it was unclear if they were chanting Ryan or Ayn.
Nothing would surprise me anymore. Nothing. Ryan’s stark-raving crazy. And Romney’s made himself Ryan’s puppet. The whole thing is really, really bizarre.
Beverly, you said it, it is bizarre. One does not need to know economics to understand the Ryan budget is just bunk, nothing else. Ryan, the intellectual, is a joke, but he does believe it himself. He is immature and full of hot air. I would like to see his college transcripts. An intellectual Ayn Rand worshiper, in charge of the budget of the wealthiest nation and no economic knowledge exept Ayn Rand. Bizarre to say the least.
