No convictions in Michigan governor kidnap plot . . .
DETROIT – Actually this is Grand Rapids, MI home of the Western District Michigan Federal Court.
The historic Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer kidnap plot trial ended with no convictions Friday, delivering a blow to the government as it failed to convince a jury that four men were domestic terrorists determined to harm the governor because of her COVID-19 restrictions.
AB: Not sure if I would call this historic. Several times and under their “right” to carry firearms, armed protestors showed up at the state Capitol and were allowed inside the Capitol building. Capitol guards were present. I would still be uneasy with these folk running around armed.
The jury acquitted Daniel Harris on all four counts, and Brandon Caserta was acquitted on the one count of kidnapping conspiracy — so both men are free to go.
The jury deadlocked on charges against Adam Fox and Barry Croft, so a mistrial was declared for those defendants.
Defendants maintained “they were victims of entrapment and the FBI came up with the kidnap idea and pressured them into saying and doing things they wouldn’t have otherwise.”
AB: Some fumbling around here as they should have been convicted.
Bets on when they try again? There’s a straight line from Sarah Palin painting targets on Democratic congresspeople to the Bundy Bois busting into an Oregon tourist kiosk closed for the winter and calling it an “armed insurrection”, to Donald Drumpf uck and the Dipshits’ 1.6 insurrection and attempt to overthrow the government.
We’re here today because we let her, we let them, get away with it …
At Hullabaloo:
With regards to one of the Wolverine Watchmen,
“Daddy … do you want a Dorito?” a little girl’s voice asked.
“Honey, I’m making explosives, can you get away from me, please?”
That recorded exchange between Delaware trucker Barry Croft Jr. and his daughter was just one of hundreds of examples of audio, video and online chatter prosecutors presented to the jury considering the fate of four men accused of plotting to kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer in the fall of 2020.
The trial has been closely watched because of its potential implications for the increasingly bizarre relationship between Trumpist conservatives and law enforcement.
There was no entrapment on this
Anyone who has ever been in a jury room …
And I have been there . . .
Just got my summons to jury duty last week.
I’ve been lucky to be sent home before without ever getting near the courtroom.
Three days of availability was enough.
I’m pretty sure they would send me home if it ever got to the point of being ‘interviewed’.
Watt4:
Good to see you again. Sat on three juries. Never got to the end as I was excused. In one case, I knew the judge was reading my notes on what I had been hearing from the prosecution. In the other ones, I was the extra juror.
Michigan at its finest. It is mostly Dem by about 1-2% and has a record of voting Dem in national elections. This was pretty clear cut. These people show up at the capitol toting their “guns” so to speak, are allowed inside. Who does stupid stuff like this? Trump would have peed his pants if they came looking for him.

Trump has won Michigan’s 16 electoral votes. Trump has 10,704 more votes than Hillary Clinton, with 100 percent reporting. NY Times – November 2016
Trump won several ‘usually Dem states’ in 2016, and doing so again is key to his scheme to win re-election in 2024.
Repubs won Michigan once since 2000. It goes back even farther for WI and PA. Not sure how many times I have posted this.
As they say down in Texas, ‘Fool me once, shame on you, fool me ‘twixit, shame on … um, er, caint git fooled agin!’ – George Bush Jr.
4 or 5 states were flipped in 2016 to get Trump elected. They can be flipped again. More if possible. That’s the GOP game plan, no doubt.
