“This country isn’t yours. You don’t own it!”
“You don’t own patriotism, you don’t own Christianity. You sure as hell don’t own respect for military, police and firefighters.” John Stewart
If you have not seen John Stewart taking over for Stephen Colbert on The Late Show, take the 10 or so minutes necessary to listen to Stewart’s remarks and see him get his explicative bleeped out by Colbert. As usual, John is on target with his message.
so why is this being posted here. As we were lectured in another post, “this is not Dear Abby. It is an economics blog called Angry Bear.”
“Relevant and even prescient commentary on news, politics and the economy.”
Read and heed.

Do you see a string of similar posts behind me? Don’t push your luck. This was an answer to Trump not a continuous stream of rhetoric much of which was baseless and answered numerous times before.
I disagree with Mr. Stewart..This is my country ,I do own it and take special interest in it and what goes on in Washington politics is and should be very important to us all. I take ownership and responsibility of what I say, do and believe. Many have given and paid the supreme price for so to me Mr. Stewart is wrong on what he is implying about anyone wanting to take ownership of their country, including Trump…Also the other post comments are not working so in regards to corrupt Kaine. He is the perfect pick for HRC to insure that the extension of her insider, elitist policies will be guaranteed extending open borders, current free trade TPP policy and no reinstatement of Glass Steagal . I believe that Sanders was too far left and corrupt Kaine too far right even though HRC strongly believes in corruption …
here is an interesting column in the NY Times magazine today suggesting that Hillary Clinton may represent the 99% by Gideon Lewis-Kraus.
W. Ryan,
That is exactly Stewart’s point. Trump does not “own”, ie define what patriotism or good government is, our country. Your ideas and personal beliefs are just as important as are Trumps and those of his followers. That’s the point of Stewart’s critique of the Trump presentation and phenomenon. If you think that Stewart is wrong, as you say, about Trump wanting to take ownership of the country in that manner then you haven’t been paying attention to what Trump is saying because he is saying it clearly and as obnoxiously as it can be said.
Regarding your comment, “Also the other post comments are not working so in regards to corrupt Kaine.”, highlights the source of your knowledge. Google the term corrupt Tim Kaine and the first link up is Breitbart, a more deceitful source you’ll never find. That link is followed by Fox and Heavy.com, and Heavy clearly points out, as does Vox.com and Politico.com, what Kaine did and how it was completely within the bounds of Virginia laws. Compare that with Trump’s history of bankruptcy declarations and stiffing multiple trades people during his career. Of course there’s always Trump University to represent all that is good and above board in Donald Trump’s universe. How about some clothing made for Trump Not In the USA, http://www.factcheck.org/2016/05/trumps-made-in-the-u-s-a-spin/.
