Trump wants foreign companies to bring experts to teach Americans
Teach them how to manufacture their ‘complex products’ — and then go back home. Would it work? Moneywise
It is not a matter of whether it would work or not.
The process and the technology to manufacture is already in the United States. This is in Lean Six Sigma, Just in Time, Total Quality Control, MRPII, Toyota Production System, Through Put analysis, etc. The companies left for Asia to escape the Overhead associated with the United States. Much of the Overhead is covered by the country’s governments where companies manufacture. Mexico does such as well as Asian countries.
Foreign countries come to the US to manufacture to avoid the costs of inventory, transportation, and tariffs. So? Fix the Overhead costs and the US companies will return.
TSMC is building south of Phoenix as well as other companies in other places.

Didn’t Trump just expel a bunch of Korean workers who were here doing just that? Taking that kind of job now requires combat pay.
Kaleburg:
Yes, Trump administration took Hyundia workers into custody. The same as Trump would order it. No one does anything without him knowing. The Koreans left the U.S.
Trump administration in damage-control mode after Hyundai immigration raid sparks investment concerns
I would leave also if a country treated me so poorly and my expertise was needed. Why would I or Koreans risk it. I am sure you agree. Good luck to the U.S. and Hyundia car owners.
Yes on the TAD pay . . .
Kaleberg:
And to anger the Koreans even more, he wants to buy the land the US has their bases on. Korea would be stupid to give Tr_mp anything concerning an entry to the country. He wants control of Korea and a foothold to China.
@Bill,
“. . . experts suggested that Trump’s comments about “ownership” were likely a bargaining tactic ahead of future security negotiations, since granting actual ownership of the land is legally and politically unfeasible.”

Because Americans are too stupid to figure it out themselves
Half the population can’t read and are proud of it …
Ten Bears:
Most people can be trained to do manual type of Labor. There are still areas of need for such which can not be automated or is too expensive to do such. Spend the time to train them or spend the money to support them. I prefer the former over the latter.
Ten Bears:
Reading is helpful in doing functions. You can teach people by doing too. And then tag them with advancing if they can learn to read. It is a process.
@TB,
Almost every American can read the sports page and over half of Americans can read the entertainment page. Most Americans believe they can read the business page, for which assumptions generally take the place of understanding. Not many Americans care to read the political page where their priors preempt any need for understanding.
