We Believe ? ? ?
Almost one year old (July 18, 2014) this speech by Senator Elizabeth Warren. We Believe:
– “We believe that Wall Street needs stronger rules and tougher enforcement, and we’re willing to fight for it.”
– “We believe in science, and that means that we have a responsibility to protect this Earth.”
– “We believe that the Internet shouldn’t be rigged to benefit big corporations, and that means real net neutrality.”
– “We believe that no one should work full-time and still live in poverty, and that means raising the minimum wage.”
– “We believe that fast-food workers deserve a livable wage, and that means that when they take to the picket line, we are proud to fight alongside them.”
– “We believe that students are entitled to get an education without being crushed by debt.”
– “We believe that after a lifetime of work, people are entitled to retire with dignity, and that means protecting Social Security, Medicare, and pensions.”
– “We believe—I can’t believe I have to say this in 2014—we believe in equal pay for equal work.”
– “We believe that equal means equal, and that’s true in marriage, it’s true in the workplace, it’s true in all of America.”
– “We believe that immigration has made this country strong and vibrant, and that means reform.”
– “And we believe that corporations are not people, that women have a right to their bodies. We will overturn Hobby Lobby and we will fight for it. We will fight for it!”

We believe anyone should be allowed to claim to be Native American for the purpose of getting into elite schools, and bear no public consequences for lying about it.
Sammy:
What school did she get into? http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/05/10/elizabeth-warren-minority-status_n_1508060.html
run,
Most do not link to that which is contrary to their point. From your link:
“Another document that surfaced Thursday is a 2005 report by a committee established to review the status of minority faculty at the University of Pennsylvania.
The report by the university’s Minority Equity Committee includes a list of faculty members who worked at the school. Warren worked there as a law professor until 1995, when she left to take a job at Harvard Law School.
The report listed the names of minorities in bold and italics, and Warren’s was included among those names.”
If you want to argue that Warren did not use Native American status to enhance here academic candidacy, this is weak and losing argument.
If you want to argue youthful indiscretion, or she was a pioneering Rachael Dolezal, OK. http://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2015/06/what_the_rachel_dolezal_scandal_teaches_us.html
But don’t argue that she didn’t do it. I think data about a politicians’ morality and character is relevant. I wonder what you would say if ___________ (fill in Republican politicians name} had falsely claimed to be Native American to get jobs at Penn and Harvard.
Without these credentials, in all probability, would not be where she is.
Sammy: “We believe anyone should be allowed to claim to be Native American for the purpose of getting into elite schools, and bear no public consequences for lying about it.”
Me: “What school did she get into?”
What school was she admitted to due to claiming minority status? How did she benefit?
Sounds like a winning presidential platform.
I think a Native American is anyone born in North, Central, or South America.
Jerry,
“I think a Native American is anyone born in North, Central, or South America.”
Not for the purposes of getting ahead in academia. Being a “disadvantaged minority” is the golden ticket. Don’t believe me? Maybe you’ll believe……….. Elizabeth Warren:
Elizabeth Warren revealed for the first time late Wednesday night that she identified herself as Native American to Harvard University and the University of Pennsylvania when she taught at both schools.
“At some point after I was hired by them, I … provided that information to the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard,” Warren said in a statement to the Boston Globe, the newspaper reported. “My Native American heritage is part of who I am, I’m proud of it and I have been open about it.”

Sammy you are being obtuse.
Elizabeth Warren is in fact 1/32nd Native American
Elizabeth Warren never used that fact in any hiring event
That she may have LATER used it in a faculty directory is no more venal than the fact that I might wear a “Kiss Me I’m Irish” button on St. Paddy’s Day because my Great Great Great Grandfather Thomas Graham immigrated from Ireland. (And named his youngest two children, Americus and America – my Great Great Grandmother)
(4 edits added as I counted ‘greats’)
Elizabeth Warren was not an Affirmative Action hire. There has been no credible evidence ever advanced that she was. It is all made up bullshit along the lines that have Obama be an AA admission to Harvard.
So cut the shit Sammy. You know better than to think you can just snow your way through this stuff. It is not like you are new at Angry Bear.
(Oh did I fail to say “Welcome back Sammy!” ? – Probably).
sammy – ““At some point after I was hired by them, I … provided that information to the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard,”
Note the word “AFTER”.
Sammy
sorry to say you seem to be taking a not quite fact, and one of dubious importance in the scheme of things and promoting it to evidence of serious moral turpitude. this is common enough among partisans of both stripes.
i just read (right hear on Angry Bear) Paul Ryan lying about a quite serious matter to the intended direct injury of millions of people. Moreover I have heard him do it before (“You don’t want me to get wonky on you,” as a way to avoid answering a question that would have revealed he was making stuff up.)
Actually, I heard George W Bush lie about stuff that got people killed, and seems to have broken what stability in the Middle East might have been protecting us.
I realize that pointing this out to you is a waste of time, but it might help some other people realize just what kind of thumb you put on the moral scales that guide your life and politics.
Jerry/Bruce,
While at University of Texas, Elizabeth Warren aka. “Fauxcahantus'”self indentified herself as Native American. http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2014/04/18/elizabeth-warren-made-false-claim-of-minority-status-in-law-school-directories-beginning-in-1986/
Is it such a stretch to believe U of P and Harvard took this into account?
Elizabeth Warren=Heap Big Liar.
Bruce,
“Elizabeth Warren is in fact 1/32nd Native American.”
1/32nd? Really? 1/32nd? I would wager that a huge percentage of the population can claim 1/32nd (3%) native American ancestry. So these are the people that can claim preferential treatment? Please! The preferences are set so that REAL disadvantaged sub populations can get ahead. Not blonde blue eyed aristocrats like Elizabeth Warren.
I wonder which real >1/32nd Native American profs got nixed so Fauxcahontus could get those jobs at Penn and Harvar.
Dang,
I went to grad school at Penn. If only I had the creativity of Elizabeth Warren. I have high cheekbones, and unlike Warren, dark skin. So I could have gotten into Harvard……..just by checking the “Native American” box. Well played Liz.
Sammy:
Just Penn? How did she get into any school? You are wrong. Jesuits took me in . . .
Sammy you have no evidence for anything and are just spreading a bunch of typical crap drawn from the crappiest crap merchant ever on the Right, the late not great Breitbart.
You have put up nothing. Zero. You say:
“Is it such a stretch to believe U of P and Harvard took this into account?”
Well no more a stretch than to speculate whether Hillary had Vince Foster assassinated and his body dumped in a park. Which dicks like you also do.
Sammy you come from the world where the following sounds like a reasonable argument.
“Is it reasonable to speculate? It is unreasonable not to”. Which is basically the whole business model of the National Enquirer. And Bretbart.com.
Is it a stretch to believe that Sammy is the parthenogenetically conceived Love Child of Ann Coulter and Phyllis Schafley? Not by Sammy standards.
