Whatever our political differences here, I think we can all agree to one econometric: Netflix’s decision to stop mailing out on Saturday means that Netflix will now deliver 18% less DVDs — while charging the same price.
Are Americans going to take this lying down — like they do nearly everything else? Probably; we’ll see. :-[
18% of the volume is lost by users who rotate DVDs at maximum turnover. I just got two DVDs today, Tuesday that I would have gotten yesterday. Netflix emailed me Friday, 8/1, that they had received two returns — and emailed me again Monday, 8/4, that I would get my next two Tuesday.

The Jewish mob boss who ordered the hit died a convert, a repentant Catholic. The Teamster who preceded Hoffa, who started what I call the perfect free market system — what I am always screaming about: centralized bargaining — quit the union to spend the rest of his life running for president on the Socialist Workers Party ticket. Strange crew.
As far as I know my financial interest in Netflix is limited to sending them $7.99 per month although it is possible that one or more of the mutual funds that I own hold a position in Nexflix. π
I can’t afford 8 dollars a month, and i’m only likely to watch about five dollars worth of movies a year. All the video rental stores are out of business, and the first run houses are not what i am interested in.
On the other hand, I’d be interested in the Hoffa movie if it wasn’t so much trouble.
I need an answer to a vexing question. Yesterday evening while surfing the channels I came across Ann Coulter being interviewed regarding her opinion of Rand Paul’s position on immigration. That was bad enough. Today I see that TPM has picked up that interview and has an article about it. My vexing question. Why does anyone along any part of the political spectrum care what Ann Coulter has to say about anything?
” Why does anyone along any part of the political spectrum care what Ann Coulter has to say about anything? ”
I had the same question. In the case of TPM, I don’t think they really care about the content of her speech. It’s just click bait. Probably works for Coulter, too. She’s a grifter. The grifter business model is just to stay in the news, no matter how asinine you are. See, e.g., Palin, Sarah.

Why 18% less. They will just add the saturday mailings to Monday’s.

One of the returns was: “Jimmy Hoffa: The Man Behind the Mystery” — my obsession lately. The world’s most unscrupulous good guy.

Let’s try again on Hoffa’s now admitted killer:

It only makes a difference to people who order DVD’s like you do, probably a small, percentage of their total DVD users.
Stream Netflix movies and you won’t be limited to two per “mailing day”.
Jerry, be honest with us — have to ask a question like this on a blog like this — do you have any financial interest in Netflix? π
