World View… Does the earth belong to the rich?
The video presents safe voyages to space.
“people… first-hand viscerally get that we live on a planet suspended in space … and this planet is all that we have.”
Yet we could assume that only rich people from around the world will take the ride. How many of them will get a vision that the world is theirs and not ours? Just as they see their riches as theirs and not of people in general. They resist paying taxes. They resist paying better wages. They resist re-distribution of wealth. They do not see the wealth that they accumulated from the earth as belonging to all people and nature.
So really… how many of the rich that go to space will view the world and realize that its riches belong to all people… to be shared as one community? How many will realize that they should share their wealth with others who were not privy to the special deals that possessed the world’s wealth?

while i agree with you in my heart (that they should) i believe the fact is that they won’t. the rich are driven to get rich and that usually means “beating the other guy.” and when the other guy gets back on his feet and beats the (formerly) rich guy, he acts exactly the same way.
once in a while we get some of the rich including the poor in the spoils because they need the help of he poor and money is an easier way to get it than whips.
that said, the poor have cut themselves a fairly reasonable deal in europe and america. there isn’t much actual grinding misery… or anyway we reduced it considerable before the rich started bringing it back.
i think we’d have a better chance keeping the misery index fairly low, but as long as we run around “demanding” that the rich give us their money, they are going to react by trying to increase their strength with respect to ours, and that means reducing us to a lower level of misery.
doesn’t mean i don’t support the efforts to improve the lot of the poor. it does mean i don’t think the aggressive rhetoric that i hear helps us. and i do get disappointed when it turns out that all the poor want is “more money” even at the cost of destroying the earth, their own happiness, and their own chances at a fair deal.
Hi Coberly,
I agree with you.
Let me show you a picture from Oscar Landerretche.

He was just appointed in Chile as a Board of Director for the largest copper mine. He is an economist that wants to essentially take the wealth from the rich and use it for the good of society.
Look at the pictures on his office wall. One of the pictures translates as… “Chile is putting on its long pants. Now copper belongs to Chileans.”
History in Chile has given too many of the riches of copper to a select few. We can say the same of other countries like oil in Nigeria.
The precedent of what you say has already been set in many places… like you say, “… reducing us to a lower level of misery.”
