Republicans are Anti-Democracy
(Anti-De)
Not all republicans, all Republican politicians. Who weren’t always. In my lifetime, in my children’s lifetimes, patriotic, democracy loving Republican politicians were common. Now, I challenge anyone to name one Republican congressional member worth spit.
Before the Republican party’s infamous ‘southern strategy’, liberal, honest Republican politicians were not uncommon. One could easily name a dozen. By the 1980s, the party had been completely co-opted by former Big-Lie ‘Dixiecrats’. The very same who had long been the bane of the modern Democratic party. Good riddance to bad rubbish (GRTBR) for the Democratic party; the beginning of the end for the Republican party — and the nation. The Dixiecrats, progeny of the Confederacy, itself, progeny of 17th century Europe, stood for everything that was wrong in America. Today’s Republican Party is all these. and — is the bane of the nation.
Since the transformation, the perverted Republican Party, in alliance with the wealthy, has managed to destroy our democracy. Has done so by gerrymandering control of Congress and packing the Federal Courts (including the Supreme Court) with partisan hacks. In our time of need, we have a moribund legislature and a Supreme Court majority of the likes of Roberts, Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, Barrett, Alito and Thomas.
Congressional members from the former Confederate states, though believers they be, do not, never did, believe in Democracy. Neither do the majority members on the Supreme Court. 17th century, more like.
Tell me, tell us all, what would it take to steady the ship, to get back up to the present, to deal with the future? Can our democracy be restored? The United States of America has gotten itself into one hell of a mess. Be generations, if ever. Maybe, another country.
We needed reformation; got regression. Needed thinkers; got believers. Old bastard said, “I know a lot of us are hearing from people back home about Medicaid. But they’ll get over it.” Always have. Around and around, he keeps screwing them over and they keep getting over it. So, it goes in every red state. Will until they get their heads out and get rid.
“‘They’ll get over it,’ McConnell reportedly assures GOP colleagues about Medicaid cuts.” Kentucky Lantern

The Democrats are the Rockefeller Republicans we once knew. There is no significant liberal party today in America.
Joel:
If only a few brave souls would step forward and rally.
Ken, you can probably relax. Right after those officers ‘Allende’ Hegseth, bet they go get the rest of them.
The irony is it was the great compromise (also known as the Connecticut compromise) that was needed to bring the states together to form the country. It gave somewhat equal power to the smaller less populous states in the government. That power has allowed what you describe. What brought us together is now tearing us apart.
As I have said before, you can’t let the players on the field create their own rules and change them whenever they have the ball and expect a good outcome. Our political infrastructure is broken. The “separation of powers” has evolved into the “separation of minds.”
The only way I can see out of the morass the country is in, is with the emergence of a dynamic, charismatic leader with a positive vision of the future of the country and an ability to articulate the importance of cooperation and compromise in politics and governance. We cannot keep whipsawing the public between more extreme Democratic and Republican idealistic issues from election to election and midterm to midterm.
The issues are becoming more and more complex, and our current political system is completely incapable of dealing with them. Many members of the public, after repeatedly observing the deceitful, circus mentality of our current politics, have simply given up. They have given up watching the twisted news and algorithm-driven, money-corrupted social media. They have resigned to the fatalism, “It is what it is,” and have left the extremes on both ends to perform their daily theatrics on their preferred media stage.
It doesn’t have to be that way. With leadership and vision, great minds can come together and solve difficult problems that result in positive outcomes for the vast majority of the population. Finding solutions is not the problem; finding honest, well-meaning leaders that can breakthrough the current political infrastructure, and that have an understanding that there are at least two sides to most issues, is the problem.
