Your New Forever War
I am not so sure this war will last any longer than Trump and his dwarfs are in office. Once gone, someone will decide differently. I thought we gave up nation – building a decade or so back when! This not a place for the US to be except for an occasional cleanup in Aisle 7. Then leave the rest to their leadership and people. We should not become overly involved in the Middle East. Too many players who are vindictive. And the United States will be blamed for intervening.
Jack hails from Michigan. We have had a few conversations. Good person.
Welcome To Your New Forever War
Except this one will be more dangerous and much worse.

I never thought I’d be saying this: I am as physically nonviolent as they come, but would like to smash every person in the mouth who voted for Donald Trump in 2024, because it was clear he would do more than any previous leader ever had to ruin our country. But it turns out that I was an optimist, and he is far worse than that.
So welcome to our new Forever War, which is what they used to call Afghanistan. Remember how the Republicans used to beat up on poor President Biden because he lost 13 Americans killed getting us out of that? Well, keep count of how many times more people we lose in the general war we are now starting in the Middle East.
We now know what the Trump Doctrine is: Anytime he sees a regime he disapproves of, he thinks he has the right to attack that country, kill or capture its leader, and bomb the hell out of it. Tragically, he got away with it in perpetually weak Venezuela.
But now he’s formed a partnership with a much smarter fascist bully, Benjamin Netanyahu. They have begun what will probably be an immense regional war in the Middle East that could last for years. Iran isn’t Venezuela. We killed their main political and religious leader, and his wife. Yes, millions of Iranians hated the regime of the ayatollahs. But millions more supported them.
Do you really think they’ll be content to lob a few rockets at U.S. bases in the region?
They have many people and a lot of money. Do you think they couldn’t possibly stage something here that makes 9-11 look like child’s play?
The day after this atrocity started, I heard that preening moron, Pete Hegseth, talking about our glorious victory. Doesn’t he remember George W. Bush proclaiming our glorious victory and “Mission Accomplished,” in May, 2003?
After that, the war started. Trump, of course, will be totally discredited, and if democracy somehow survives, it will be hard in 2036 to find anyone who admits to having voted for him. Anyone who still does today is, in my mind, far worse than the spies who gave away our nuclear secrets.
But if Trump is still alive when it all comes crashing down, and the ruin of our country is complete, I know he will say essentially the same thing Adolf Hitler did in the will he dictated just before blowing his own brains out:
“Nobody could say that any of this was my fault.”
