Keep on Trucking?
I posted earlier about my interest in whether higher oil prices would favor freight trains over trucks. Now, not only is the Trump administration driving up fuel prices, it’s also cutting truck drivers.
“About 200,000 immigrant truck drivers – virtually all of them in the U.S. legally – will begin losing their commercial driver’s licenses under a Trump administration rule taking effect Monday.
“The rule, which will bar many noncitizens from getting new commercial licenses or renewing existing ones, creates challenges for the trucking industry, already struggling with high fuel costs and high driver turnover, according to The Washington Post. Existing licenses will continue to be valid until they expire.
“Among those affected are asylum seekers, refugees and DACA recipients.”
No, 200,000 manly-man White Americans aren’t going to suddenly materialize to drive these trucks. There’s a reason they were hiring immigrants. You know who gets hurt by this? Middle class and working-class consumers. Billionaire Trump and his billionaire friends don’t care.

This really isn’t new on a couple levels: notal and primarily the industry has gotten so Uber-ed that drivers are basically living in their trucks and barely making payments. And the industry itself started this mess attacking Indian (India Indian) and Pakistani drivers. The implication in the reporting is Meso-American drivers but there’s a huge population of middle-Asian drivers that don’t speak ‘Murkkkan either. You know which population of illegal aliens speaks ‘Murkkkan? The illegal Irish; the second largest illegal population. The one no one talks about and who won’t live in a truck and drive for peanuts
I posted a link when this was first proposed, maybe six months ago, though I was looking at it through the prism of the Bilderbergers (or whatever) building an eight-lane freeway from Canada to Mexico to do whatever Bilderbergers do
