Milan Protests the Presence of Immigration and Customs Enforcement
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Milan? at the Olympics?
Their presence at the Olympics in Milan is a distraction from the event. Italy’s civilian population is angrily protesting their presence. I can not imagine how the Immigration and Customs employees could get past detection. It is not going to take much (a faux pas) for this to turn into an international reaction.
Furthermore, they are there for only one issue which is the same as in the United States. The removal of non-United States citizens. This is really a breach of international protocol. I doubt the United States has asked for permission from the Olympic Committee or from Italy,

Demonstrations have erupted in Italy over U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials providing security assistance at this month’s Winter Olympics.
A division of the federal law enforcement organization will support security measures for the 2026 Olympic Games, which will take place across host cities Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo over the coming three weeks, with the quadrennial competition commencing on Friday, February 6.
Residents, however, are outraged over the deployment of ICE officials to their nation, following the recent fatal shootings of Renée Good and Alex Pretti, two American citizens killed by members of ICE and United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP), in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It comes after the Super Bowl host city’s sheriff dealt a blow to ICE’s plans following the Minnesota chaos.
Milan Mayor Giuseppe Sala told local media last week. “This is a militia that kills, a militia that enters into the homes of people, signing their own permission slips. It is clear they are not welcome in Milan, without a doubt.”
