Reflecting Reality
If you are in management, typically you will not know everything going on in a department. You may have to ask for clarification. You don’t panic and you do have to answer a comment or a question. Trump could not answer or rebut the reporter’s easy to answer question or remark.
When you do not know or want to sidestep the issue, talk about the past. This is what Ms. Karoline did. Trump could not do it.
Is what she said true? No. Not under the circumstances. The circumstance does show you how weak Trump really is answering the easiest of questions.

The 47th President wanted to challenge a reporter for asking what he described as a ‘fake, disgusting’ question about affordability in the U.S., accusing the journalist of spreading fake news.
‘In fact, I’d like to ask Karoline. I’d like to ask Karoline a question. Where is she?’
Trump said, as he looked around in confusion. When there was no response, he laughed uncomfortably,
‘Did she, uh oh, she deserted us. She deserted me. Our great Karoline superstar deserted me.’
She quickly confronted the press, declaring,
‘The reason I don’t want to talk about affordability is because everybody knows that it’s far less expensive under Trump than it was under sleepy Joe Biden, and the prices are way down. Affordability is what the American people elected this president to do, and he is doing it.'”
