Make your voice heard
Trump’s crackdown on the press should make clear that he will do anything to avoid a loss in the 2026 midterm elections. He will suppress dissent, he will use masked ICE agents to intimidate voters, he will declare his opponents terrorists – anything. And it is equally clear that we cannot count on the courts to stop him.
So what can ordinary folks like us do to protect our democracy? The single most important thing we can do is to protest. We need to let our fellow citizens who oppose Trump know that they are not alone. We need to support organizations that resist Trump and shame organizations that choose collaboration or capitulation. We need to make it clear to Republicans in Congress that there will be a price to pay for their slavish devotion to Trump.

I have been to the prior one here and a couple of others and usually take a friend. I am heartened by more young people attending and a couple of weeks ago the local GOP head argued that the protests were sort of “stale”. They are noticing and forcing out critics of the GOP is not helping them.
