Firing our way to full employment
Trump fired BLS Commissioner Erika McEntarfer after a jobs report signaled a slowing jobs market, and larger-than-normal revisions for the previous two months suggested a more significant economic downturn could be anticipated.
Trump’s reasoning appears to be that the BLS commissioner’s reports can create jobs, just like the rooster crows to create the dawn.
Realty begs to differ:
“. . . the economy is cooling, the unemployment rate is going up, and the number of job openings isn’t keeping pace.
“The U.S. economy added just 22,000 jobs in August, less than economists had expected.”
Wonder who Trump will fire next. Maybe if he fires enough people, we’ll reach full employment?
Shooting the messenger doesn’t change the message

Trump and his sycophants are really the gang that can not shoot straight. For the life of me I do not understand why anyone much less a plurality of voters think that Trump, a failed businessman, would know anything about the economy as opposed to being an expert liar about everything. This entire administration seems like Kabuki theater. A Health and Human Services Secretary whose knowledge of health is akin to using leeches to drain the bad blood, a Transportation Secretary who has overseen more disasters in 7 months than Buttigieg did in 4 years, an Education Secretary who is uneducated etc. But he can rebrand the Defense Department and the Gulf of Mexico so he is the most fabulous president in history–not. He was handed the keys to a Mercedes firing on all cylinders with inflation under control and interest rates coming down and by year end it will be a Yugo running on one cylinder and 3 tires. His incompetence and the incompetence of those around him is staggering and the GOP is just fine with it. The Dems may as well shut down the government–it is useless under Trump anyway except for murdering people on the high seas and in North Korea.
