Liking “His Precious,” Those Shiny Objects
I am a licensed soccer coach who coached mostly teens and soon to be teens who could not make the upper level teams. In time they evolved into better players or just decided playing soccer would be an interest and not a goal. World Cup ended with Chelsea winning it all. Of course, Tr__p was there to bask in the glory and . . .
Kareem’s Department of “Does This Seem Crazy?”
“Trump Kept Gold Club World Cup Trophy for Himself So FIFA Had to Give the Winners a Replica,” Daily Beast
“President Trump has revealed that the champions of the Club World Cup won’t be getting the original trophy. He is keeping it. English club Chelsea easily dispatched France’s Paris Saint-Germain in the final of the tournament in New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium on Sunday, with Trump joining the players for the trophy lift—much to their confusion . . . It has since been revealed that the intricate prize hoisted aloft by the London club’s captain, Reece James, was a replica because the president of football’s governing body, FIFA, has let Trump use the original as an ornament in the Oval Office. The trophy, crafted in collaboration with Tiffany & Co, features a central disc with three rotating outer rings. It has a 24-carat gold-plated finish and is thought to have cost around $230,000 to make. If FIFA lets Trump keep the orbital award for good, it is likely to end up in the National Archives.”
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s TAKE:
Yes, you read that correctly. Trump is keeping the trophy that he did not earn, not unlike keeping the golf trophies that he’s accused of cheating to win (“Donald Trump cheating at golf”). The team that actually trained and won the trophy through hard work and personal sacrifice got a replica. Worse, after Chelsea won and took the stage to receive their fake trophy, Trump wouldn’t leave the platform. He wanted to bask in their glory. Cole Palmer, named the tournament’s best player, later confessed that he was “confused” by Trump not leaving:
“I knew he was going to be here, but I didn’t know he was going to be on the stand when we lifted the trophy, so I was a bit confused, yeah.”
Making everything about him is just typical Trump narcissism. Here’s the crazy part: Trump also mentioned the possibility of signing an executive order to have soccer officially recognized as “football” in the U.S. He knows Americans would never allow that, but he said it anyway because he loves to flex that he is more powerful than the will of Americans.

‘soccer officially recognized as “football”’
should be futbol
Gee Dave:
I believe you need to clue the Daily Beast and also Kareem in as to what term should be used. This is written in their perspective and not mine. Your complaint is noted . . .
