    So millions put up with vicious and expensive human trafficking to get here when there were so many much better places?  Whatever the mix of good and not so good rankings say, the people who are most committed to getting the heck out of their countries chose the US in very high numbers until it got shut down in 2025.   Maybe at least one bit of Marxian analysis is truly profound….you shouldn’t want to be in a club that will have you as a member.

      @Eric,

      What exactly are you trying to say here?

      Eric:

      I do not know what you are attempting to say here. Joel also questions your comment.

      I have no problem accepting immigrants. They bring a new vitality into the nation. Most are willing to work in areas and positions many long-term Americans do not wish to do. In fact, we can penalize them as many have yet to be allowed to be in country. United States fertility rate has declined to 1.8 children per woman, below the replacement level fertility of 2.1.

      Many of them coming to America, come from countries I have worked in also. They treated me with respect, much more respect than when they come to America. Sometimes, I would bring them home for a dinner at our table. The Elkhounds would pester them for pets.

      The percentage of people over 65 in the country grew from 13% in 2011 to 17% in 2023. The retired people in this group represent 58% of the 65-69 population and 76% of people aged 70-74.

      And yes, they still struggle to get to America in spite of a bigoted leadership. Psst, it is called freedom, freedom to live as a person. No Marxism involved.

    I think that needs to get passed around, should turn up in blog and social media posts as widely as can be seen, if you know what I mean. I’ll do my part …

      Ten Bears:

      I know you will do so. This came off of Facebook. I posted from the original site. Joel had it up as a comment on Facebook also.

      It is always great when you have people who agree with you and with whom you can agree with also. Much of the time . . .

      Thank you for commenting Ten Bears.

        Funny. Well, it’s true…I should have pointed out that I didn’t see America’s ranking on democracy and the political system’s responsiveness to voters’ desires for such things as universal healthcare, affordable shelter,  etc. I guess I should have prefaced my comment with: ‘What’s the “world’s greatest democracy’s” ranking on democracy?’  If the last election is any indication, the ranking could not have good–the system foisted on us a choice between an abominable Trump vs. a senile Biden undemocratically succeeded by a hapless empty suit. And, yes, the empty suit did not win…and would not have won, despite claims that it was all the fault of voters who sat out, dismayed by the choice.

          @John,

          The “hapless empty suit” was democratically elected to represent California in the U.S. Senate from 2017 to 2021 and was the attorney general of California from 2011 to 2017. She was democratically elected vice president, and thereby democratically deemed qualified to be president (by succession) by a majority of voters in 2020. While you apparently believe that a woman of color is a “hapless empty suit,” she certainly accomplished more than you ever will. You really should stop your fatuous personal attacks on her–you’re only embarrassing yourself as a sexist and racist.

    If Everyone Had Voted, Kamala Harris Still Would Have Lost – The New York Times

    “New data, based on authoritative voter records, suggests that Donald Trump would have done even better in 2024 with higher turnout.”

    You can’t expect to replace a senile candidate with a hapless empty suit and expect to win.

    Fortunately Zohran gives people hope. You can expect billionaires and their Democratic stooges to squash him ASAP.

      That’s not exactly what it says and is that why a Federal Judge just ordered a hand recount of ALL 2024 ballots cast in a predominately Democratic leaning suburban NY county that overwhelming primaried for but somehow recorded no ~ zero, zip, nada ~ votes for Harris?

    Numbers should be per capita as larger countries always have more of something.

      Dave:

      Feel free to take such a task on and upon completion either I or Joel will post it for you and attribute you as the author. I have enough on my plate already.
