Time for Senate Dems to stand up against Trump/Musk
”Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.”
~Napoleon Bonaparte
What should Senate Democrats do about the GOP continuing resolution? Filibuster and send it back to the house, which will certainly mean a shut-down? Or let it pass on the grounds that Democrats can’t be blamed for the consequences?
James Carville’s argument is that Democrats should just do nothing, embracing the Bonaparte theory. Over at TPM, Josh Marshall discusses several variants of the “just lay low” posture and why they are wrong for this moment. His argument is detailed and thoughtful, but I can’t really distill it here—read it at the link. But here’s the nut graf:
“The public is already visibly turning against what’s happening. We have lots of evidence for that. Democrats have this one chance to bring the matter to a head, increase the attention on something the public is already angry about. They need to take a real risk in order to change or at least slow the trajectory of the destruction.”
Here’s hoping Senate Dems do the right thing. I’ve written my Senators. Write to yours.
Senate Democrats should filibuster the CR

Agreed and done.
@Jack,
Sadly, according to The Hill, it looks like Senate Dems will cave on the CR. What a disgrace.
