The Trump fascist takeover proceeds
“We’re in the midst of an authoritarian takeover of the U.S. government. It’s been coming and coming, and not everybody is prepared to read it that way. The characters regarded as people to emulate, like Orban and Putin and so on, all indicate that the strategy is to create an illiberal democracy or an authoritarian democracy or a strongman democracy. That’s what we’re experiencing. Our problem in part is a failure of imagination. We cannot get ourselves to see how this is going to unfold in its most frightening versions. You neutralize the branches of government; you neutralize the media; you neutralize universities, and you’re on your way.
“We’re beginning to see the effects on universities. It’s very, very frightening.”
~Lee Bolinger
The Senate Democrats don’t get it.
Observe, Orient, Decide, and Act: Notes on Preserving the American Republic

Maybe we elected a baby Adolf Hitler president of the US, but we definitely elected a baby Willie Sutton POTUS. Front-running market moves is a lot easier if your own policy choices are causing those moves, but no magic can deceive without a compelling distraction to keep the audience spellbound.
“The choice in November was between a candidate who struggled to articulate clear policies and appeared to be influenced by advisors behind the scenes, versus a proven builder who openly shared his vision and received endorsements from successful business leaders. The establishment should allow him to address the immigration policies and cultural challenges that many believe were negatively impacting our nation.”
” . . . versus a convicted felon who openly shared his vision and received bribes from successful businessmen.”

The previous 4 years left a good economy after coming out of a pandemic. An economy that is now disintegrating under Trump’s guidance. By the way, did Trump’s 2017 Tax Break pay for itself? No, it did not.
People are wondering why the Gov is running large deficits. Much of it is the result of Trump and Republican Tax Breaks incurred since 2017.
I lack for words on how to detail Trump’s immigration policies which are largely built on racism and the denial of social differences. He is fostering a reign of terror in the United States similar of which occurred in Germany pre-the 2nd World War. That is not the America I know. I served with some of those people.
The cultural challenges you talk of are a cleansing of the nation of anyone different than you and your “beliefs” and Trumps.
joe:
Angry Bear does not allow racism by commenters which you are touting here. Whether you like people of different skin color or origins is not something people of good morality blatantly advertise. If you do not like what is said at Angry Bear, then you have the option of leaving Joe. What you want is not an option here or in the US either.
You also have no basis in which to judge people other than your own pronounced racism. Like I said, I served with minorities. We had people from other countries (noncitizens of the US) in our detachments. And you do not like them. Please leave and do not come back to Angry Bear.
Joe:
I called you out for your racist comments on another person’s post. I called you out because you did not like what was said and you resort to racism, etc.. If you do not like what is said at Angry Bear and resort to just that alone. you are banned. None of that is dissent. It is racism which will not be tolerated. I am not terrified of you. I used to take people like you to the Brig for being just as ignorant. Go away as you have violated AB’s rules which are not open to interpretation.
