Claiming Voter Fraud, Trump Is Poised To Disregard a Democratic House Victory
HuffPost Politics:
New York Times columnist Economist Paul Krugman fears that President Donald Trump’s insistent complaints of “voter fraud” are a setup to deny the legitimacy of a Democratic majority in the House should the party win in the midterm elections.
Those who don’t believe such a scenario is possible “haven’t been paying attention,” the Nobel laureate warned.
Trump has complained, without evidence, that as many as 5 million people voted illegally in the 2016 presidential election.
Hillary Clinton beat Trump in the popular vote by nearly 3 million votes. Trump’s claim, if true, would wipe out that margin and then some.
Trump set up a commission to investigate the votes, but it has not substantiated his claims, nor has it issued any reports. Commission member Matthew Dunlap, Maine’s Democratic secretary of state, said the panel was the “most bizarre thing I’ve ever been a part of.”
Yet, Trump keeps raising the issue.
Myself: There has been no evidence of massive voter fraud. Examination after examination of voter fraud claims reveal fraud is very rare, voter impersonation is nearly non-existent, and much of the problems associated with alleged fraud relates to unintentional mistakes by voters or election administrators. In 2016, Trump claimed he won the popular vote besides the Electoral College if one deducts the millions of people who voted illegally. This is false and made only worse by those in his administration who would promulgate and foster his delusional stories and outright lies.
The sad part is that there is a chance that PK is right with his “fears that President Donald Trump’s insistent complaints of “voter fraud” are a setup to deny the legitimacy of a Democratic majority in the House should the party win in the midterm elections.”
Never thought I would say that about the US. But the last several years of voter suppression and then trump has me paying attention.
Meanwhile,
Couple of must watches.
“Elsewhere, however, there were a couple of performances that should be frozen in amber as the way you do debates correctly. In Virginia, Democratic congressional candidate Abigail Spanberger got fed up with the aptly named Dave Brat’s attempts to run against Nancy Pelosi, and she fed his gonads to the wolverines.
If that reminds you of nothing more than the Ali-Terrell fight—What’s my name, motherfcker?—you’re not wrong.
Which brings us to Andrew Gillum, the Democratic candidate for governor of Florida, who overmatched Trumper Ron DiSantis right into all three elements of beddy-bye: winking, blinking, and nod. His closing statement makes his surprise win in the Democratic primary much more understandable.
That’s the way you do that debating thing.”

I think Krugman was a little over the top here. Trump may deny the legitimacy of a Democratic majority in the House, should it occur (please, God), but the Supreme Court and the federal courts generally won’t. Trump may rant (undoubtedly will) but the House will stymie what it can.
Just deny Trump himself. Look at his constant “Caravan” whining. Guess who finances it? Christian based organizations connected to his base of zionists. In otherwards, the yearly tradition is a scam and always has been. Trump knows whats going on, because his supporters are financing it.
MSM can’t even begin to untangle the web. When it comes to Democratic party “financiers” there are 2 names, “Thatcher” and “Buffett”. Nothing else matters. They make up 80% of the funding organization and are clearly the majority shareholders. Republicans don’t want to tell theirs, because unlike the very “Anglo-Saxon” financiers of the Democrats, Republicans have a very “Semitic” background.
Trump would deny anything other than a win as illegitimate just as he would claim a win as vindication. Trump’s problem is no one else will follow him; they will just desert him like rats on a sinking ship and he won’t be able to do anything beyond saying it was his plan all along.
What is missing in the “nothing bad will happen” is that many states are controlled by Rep ratf!ckers, who in the event of a loss could throw many elections into recounts with charges of voter fraud, etc. based on their knowledge that they will have the power of the justice department undere trump and a Supreme Court who determined that the Voting Rights Act was no longer needed.
Sound almost impossible? To me also. But as PK said, start paying attention.
Meanwhile, past time to stop thinking these people are not just pure evil. They make deplorables look nice.
“At the beginning of October, Adam Serwer of The Atlantic wrote the most important assessment of where we are under this president*, and of the damage being done by the mutual feedback loop between him and his increasingly mindless cultists. Serwer makes the point that the essential dehumanizing cruelty of the president* and of the meat-headed tribe that follows him is the whole purpose of the exercise…..
Over the weekend, we got another nice bit of evidence supporting Serwer’s theory. From The New York Times:
‘Now the Department of Health and Human Services is spearheading an effort to establish a legal definition of sex under Title IX, the federal civil rights law that bans gender discrimination in education programs that receive government financial assistance, according to a memo obtained by The New York Times. The department argued in its memo that key government agencies needed to adopt an explicit and uniform definition of gender as determined “on a biological basis that is clear, grounded in science, objective and administrable.” The agency’s proposed definition would define sex as either male or female, unchangeable, and determined by the genitals that a person is born with, according to a draft reviewed by The Times. Any dispute about one’s sex would have to be clarified using genetic testing.’
What is this except cruelty toward fellow Americans who make you uncomfortable? What is this but pandering to religious-based ignorance? This decision serves no public policy purpose. How is this in the national interest in any way? These people really are the fcking mole people.
‘For the last year, the Department of Health and Human Services has privately argued that the term “sex” was never meant to include gender identity or even homosexuality, and that the lack of clarity allowed the Obama administration to wrongfully extend civil rights protections to people who should not have them.’
I didn’t know there were Americans who should not have civil rights protections.
‘Roger Severino, the director of the Office for Civil Rights at the department, declined to answer detailed questions about the memo or his role in interagency discussions about how to revise the definition of sex under Title IX…Mr. Severino, while serving as the head of the DeVos Center for Religion and Civil Society at the Heritage Foundation, was among the conservatives who blanched at the Obama administration’s expansion of sex to include gender identity, which he called “radical gender ideology.” In one commentary piece, he called the policies a “culmination of a series of unilateral, and frequently lawless, administration attempts to impose a new definition of what it means to be a man or a woman on the entire nation.”’
The DeVos Center for Religion and Civil Society at the Heritage Foundation. If you want to play Bad Wingnut Policy Bingo, you’re almost halfway home.”

Have a nice day, Susan Sarandon
I didn’t suggest the weren’t assholes; I simply asserted they couldn’t disregard the House if it turned Democratic.
Let him “claim” anything he wants. It would change the election. It won’t stop the real investigstions of him. It won’t stop his impeachment!
JackD,
My apologies. My thoughts were regarding attacking the election results prior to those electing taking their seats in the House.
Trump need not worry–there won’t be anything to disregard. There’s a quiet backlash building against how the Democrats have been handling nearly every issue without supporting any policies that might actually help beleaguered working people that the blue wave is only going to swamp those stupid enough o believe in it.
Personally, I’m a leftist, but my choice for the Senate is between an extreme Trumpian and Hillary’s would be Veep. Staying home sounds like the more sensible choice.
You are beginning to remind me of someone else who I banned.
Run,
He’s a leftist only in the personae he is playing.
Without question a right wing troll.
This guy hung around with Sammy.
Sammy?
hehehehe
I hit that nail right on the head.
He who must not be named.
