Indictment
Lawfare blog published a solid read of the latest indictment announced by Rod Rosenstein.
The indictment Friday morning of 12 Russian military intelligence officials in connection with the 2016 election hacks and the resulting distribution of purloined emails was not a total surprise. Observers of the Mueller investigation have been expecting it for a long time, particularly since the Feb. 16 indictment of 13 Russian individuals and three companies over the social media campaign conducted by the so-called Internet Research Agency.
Here are links to the indictment and the Justice Department’s accompanying press release.
What struck me about the indictments was the reveal to Russia that we are deep inside the GRU. There must be a lot of searching for a mole or moles and holes in their internet security.
Reminds of the shoot down of the KAL plane where we published transcripts of the Russian transmissions to the fighter pilot.
I think you are right.
Trump keeps saying “no collusion”. Trump says a lot of things that turn out to be false. Roger Stone certainly colluded with GRU. And other Americans likely did too. As this discussion notes: Stay Tuned!
Rod Rosenstein on the release of indictment of 12 Russians on July 13, 2018:
“There’s no allegation in this indictment that any American citizen committed a crime. There’s no allegation that the conspiracy changed the vote count or affected any election result.”
do you have a point to make. uhHuh?
Gee Dan:
I think there is more to come . . . He is kind of new.
UhHuh,
Indictments are easy, producing evidence is new territory, not an issue for TDS crowd.
Getting extradition is zero probability so the special council gets a free shot meaningless except to those denying why the crooked DNC/Clinton lost.
DD at the time KAL was shot down encrypted voice communications was hard and the transmitter/Receiver sets/procedures subject to occasional failure. The ground controlled probably used old reliable channels.
Everyone had radio receiver in those days.
ilsm:
You do not get to escape. You critique with no or few solutions. You owe me an answer. I do not get away with that crap when I play with the big boys.
ilsm:
Nobody thought you have respect for Obama . . .
Perhaps, it is time to westernize Russia the same as we did China?
Another shoe dropped: Russian citizen in DC indicted. Next up? An American citizen?
Run,
He will continue to poison any kind of reasonable discussion in this area(and others) without fail. As things become clearer, he becomes more shrill.
Be careful reading his quotes from sources other than his own, confused mind (the few he actually uses), he has now taken to changing the words to suit his purposes.
EM:
It is easy for me to find all of his comments.
Well, that’s a wrap. Let’s see in the GOP has any Americans running around out there.

There were precisely zero deliverables. There was nothing on new START extension. nothing on Syria. Trump never uttered Ukraine.

Trump knew the optics. He had, at the end, done the required song and dance claiming victory at Nato.

Setting aside whether their teams worked together in 2016 (I’m confident they did), by consistently amplifying Putin’s false denials of interference, Trump unquestionably, 100 percent colluded with him. Case closed.

In an interview with Chris Wallace, Putin seemed to say that since the hacked email quotes were true and not fabricated, there was nothing wrong with that. Wallace suggested he was saying that as long as stolen money is real, and not counterfeit, everything was OK. Putin sounded like Trump during the campaign.
