President Obama insists on social safety net reform?
From the MSBN comes this announcement from President Obama on agenda for reform of the social safety net.
President Barack Obama raised anew the issue of cutting entitlements such as Medicare and Social Security as a way out of damaging budget cuts, a White House official said Sunday, as both sides in Washington tried to limit a fiscal crisis that may soon hit millions of Americans.
Signaling he might be ready to explore a compromise to end automatic spending cuts that began late Friday, Obama mentioned reforming those entitlement programs in calls with lawmakers from both parties Saturday afternoon.
I suppose we will have to wait to find out what exactly is for sale.

Dan:
Wonder where this came from tonight??? It is definitely post worthy.
I thought for a bit Obama was growing a pair of “cajones” when he was facing down “I dare you, knock this tax cut off my shoulder” John Boehner and jimmy Cricket Mitch McConnell.
Guess the people who put Barack Obama are for sale.

The key to any chance of winning back the House — the only chance for any worthwhile policy — is turnout against the obstructionist, right wing, nasty Republicans. The Obama “team” seems determined to kiss any chance of energizing the base away.
I suppose Obama’s image as the adult in the room trumps any desire to actually do anything more for the country. That will put him in good stead as the beloved ex-President with unlimited money-raising capacity from Wall Street for his foundation.
Seems to me that almost any event gives Obama a new idea about how to cleverly cut Social Security and Medicare payouts to those who’ve paid for them in favor of paying off debt not incurred by them.
Which is exactly the cause Pete Peterson invested his billion dollars in around the time Obama was “chosen” by the powers-that-choose.
Although.
It could be only a coincidence that he always comes up with the exact same answers when pressed for solutions for the debt.
Which was caused, after Clinton’s economic policies paid off most of the last Republican debt, by the Bush/Cheney tax cuts and massive unpaid-for military spending, which Obama has only increased.
Leading to a great resume for his post-presidency period.
Yay Obama!
Much poorer US.
if you go to WhiteHouse.gov, the first thing you’ll see is an invitation to read the president’s $4 trillion plan to replace the !.2 trillion sequester… it’s a one page pdf…
note: “Savings from Superlative CPI” is chained-CPI cuts to COLAs..
That’s not the real President Obama. The real President Obama is tied to a silver chair in the basement of the white house, under heavy sedation, while the impostor goes out and pleads with the Republicans to please, please, let him cut Social Security.
Which they already agreed to do. They called it a “tax holiday.”
