Some good news
In the past six months, the Trump Administration, acting through Elon Musk’s DOGE, cut more than 10% of the staff at the National Weather Service. But it looks like TACO doesn’t just apply to tariffs:
“The National Weather Service has received permission to hire 450 meteorologists, hydrologists and radar technicians just months after being hit hard by Department of Government Efficiency-related cuts and early retirement incentives.
“The new hiring number includes 126 new positions that were previously approved and will apply to “front-line mission critical” personnel, a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration official told CNN.”
With hurricane season beginning, filling these positions is urgent.
How many of these positions will be filled by re-hiring the fired employees and how many will require expensive new training is unclear.

You know that was how it was planned, right? Smart personnel move. Fire them and then rehire them in a new position and little or no seniority. Just kidding.

Another possibility is fire the current staff and hire back only whites.
