Trust in the Justice System is Indeed Damaged
But not in the way Mikie Johnson believes.

As compared to Donald Trump’s attempt to overthrow the nation on January 6, 2020 election? In another commentary Mike adds:
Still, the speaker said he expects — and is praying for — a “free and fair, legal election across the board.”
The comments come as Johnson, who played a leading role in Trump’s legal effort to overturn the 2020 election, has made statements in recent weeks suggesting that the certification of the election results is conditional. The speaker told reporters last month that the House would certify the election results if they were fair, saying, “if we have a free, fair and safe election, we’re going to follow the Constitution — absolutely.”
Does this mean, Mike believes the 2020 election was not free and fair and safe and followed the laws to make is such? Mike fumbles with the words because he is afraid of Trump.
Johnson clarified on “Face the Nation” that “Congress will follow the Constitution.”
“I guarantee you that — I’ve made a career of that,” he said. “We’re going to have the peaceful transition of power.”
Congress’ counting of the electoral votes has traditionally been a formality. But in 2021, protesters — some of whom resorted to violence — attempted to halt the process. While the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol failed to prevent the certification of the election, some Democrats have warned against a repeat of the violence after this year’s election.
Meanwhile, Trump has refused to publicly acknowledge that he lost the 2020 election four years on. And his running mate, Sen. JD Vance, declined to answer directly when asked at the vice presidential debate earlier this month whether Trump lost the election. Earlier this month, the speaker wouldn’t say whether Trump lost the 2020 election when asked repeatedly on ABC’s “This Week.”
The two general areas that seem the focus here will likely not be really key things for the Justice system. Speculating, but I’d wager looking at the Biden family’s activities will be more of a Congressional activity and very possibly aggressive journalism.
Hunter is pardoned and President Biden already has a DOJ opinion of diminished capacity. Hur was right. These immediately and greatly limit the idea that this will become much of a legal activity. Hunter now has no 5th amendment shield for the period of his pardon, so, if anything, I would think Congress would be the most likely channel for getting more information.
As to the 2020 election, regardless of whether or not there is justification for it, many Americans suspect that election had many irregularities that they feel need better explanations. It will be all to the good for the Trump administration to pursue this because in 18 months or so the country will have even these unreasonable suspicions addressed and settled.
The only way it becomes a “Justice system” activity is if the current view that the election was fair is upended in some manner. There isn’t much prospect of that. In fact Trump detractors might by this about time in 2026 about have the satisfaction of Trump saying “Well, I was wrong about that.”
