Links on water
From Aguanomics come these links:
- Fracking is coming to California in a big way. It’s likely that frackers will be heavily regulated on water quality; it’s ironic that farmers are worried that frackers may be polluting, what? More than them? Ironic, isn’t it?
- Climate change: “Warmer water will kill off most of California’s native fish species“
- Bad news: “Groundwater depletion in the US“
- Maybe Americans are not paying attention to the impacts of climate change because the government is paying for 3/4s of the damages!
H/Ts to DL and RM
Whiskey if for drinking and water is for fighting.
The California water equation:
NorCal provides it
Central Cal uses it
SoCal pays for it.
Well, hell. Just when I had about decided that California was my escape plan from the madness that is North Carolina………………..
Well, not that they have discovered how to make gasoline from water, the government is doing three quarters of the damage. So maybe they ought to pay for it.
No, that just hides it from us.
But I wonder if the free marketeers have ever thought about how far they’d get trying to drill for oil or pipe it across a free person’s land if the oil companies didn’t have the government backing them up.

no Cal used to have it’s own kind of madness. now it has caught the kind the rest of us have. there is no escape.
we are all going to pay for it.
should have been “now that…” not “not that…”
AB needs an ex post comment fixer.
Not sure what a “free person” is anymore. A friend tells me her granny in Mississippi told the oil company “no” when they wanted to drill on her land, but she later found out about horizontal drilling, and not in a good way. We are all captives to the Man, who now seems to be a hybrid of government and industry. In a word – or rather two – we’re screwed.
Sandi
exactly my point.
the free marketeers yammer about freedom and the bad old government. but without the government to force us to let them drill on (or under) our land…. or shoot us when we call a strike… the couldn’t do to us what they do.
