A Promise of No Ice Officials at the Voting Locations
Heather Honey, the department’s deputy assistant secretary for election integrity, called it “disinformation.” Stating any fears of Immigration Customs and Enforcement (ICE officials) deploying to the polls as part of President Donald Trump’s ongoing mass deportation campaign is false. Latest Politico piece on the upcoming elections which are when? November 3, 2026: All 435 seats of the House of Representatives and 35 of the 100 Senate seats will be on ballot.
I saw a real nice bridge for sell if anyone in interested. November 3 is a long way off, many of us will forget, and Heather will be claiming she did not mean exactly such or something changed for us to take precautionary measures.
“DHS official promises election officials that ICE will not be at polling places,” POLITICO
Top DHS official vowed such during a private call with election officials Wednesday. Saying immigration officers will not be stationed at polling places in November amid Democratic warnings about interference in the midterms by the federal government.
Heather Honey, the department’s deputy assistant secretary for election integrity, dismissed as “disinformation” any fears that officers from Immigration Customs and Enforcement would be deployed to the polls as part of President Donald Trump’s ongoing mass deportation campaign.
“Any suggestion of ICE being present at polling places is simply disinformation,” according to Honey said, according to four people on the call who were granted anonymity to discuss it. “There will be no ICE presence at polling locations.”
Words, her background as being a denier of the 2020 election, did not placate Democrats or eliminate their fears. Democrats have been battling with the Trump administration over election issues. In particular the Justice Department’s continuous requests for private voter rolls.
Out of Arizona where I live, Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes, (Democrat) was on the call. “I can’t depend on an election denier like that for the truth under any circumstances. So, they need to get better spokespeople who actually have some integrity.”
The sparring over ICE officers at polling places reflects Democratic fears that the federal government will insert itself into the midterms and as Trump himself has said his administration “ought to nationalize the voting.”
Administration officials from four departments (Election Assistance Commission, Department of Homeland Security, Justice Department, and Federal Bureau of Investigation) were on the call, which was organized for a routine discussion of federal assistance ahead of November. Pretty much, Trump is getting all the enforcement he can muster for the November mid-term elections.
AZ’s Adrian Fontes said little substance was shared on the call outside of the commitment to not having ICE at polling places. Saying . . .
“I really don’t know exactly what the purpose of this call was other than window dressing.”
Another person on the call said it was the latest example of “conflicting messages” coming from the Trump administration on election issues. One unknown person suggested:
“They want both to intimidate and control the states and to try to demonstrate business as usual, so they’re sending very conflicting messages to all of us about what they want their role to be in 2026.
It felt like kind of a cover your butt kind of call, so they have now checked the box that they have met with election officials from across the country,” a third person on the call said.

All of the speakers identified as persons, etc. is a pretty good example of fear of reprisals by Trump of Trump’s administration.

Well, if Trump cancels elections because of the Iran war then she’s right. There won’t be ICE at the polls since there won’t be elections at the polls.
Joel:
Yes, that is true. Can he quietly cancel elections with no forewarning? At what point do Repubs not join fearful leader?
@Bill,
