SNAP Funds

For Some Reason, the wording disappeared off of the SNAP site which basically says the Gov. has to provide the funds which are available.

When we left Michigan, Mallory Marrow was just getting started in state politics. She did win a seat in the Michigan State Senate. This piece is off Facebook and there is no link to back this up. Above is a CBPP analysis saying SNAP funds are available. Below is Senator Mallory’s commentary about Republicans blocking SNAP.

In a blistering floor speech that should be blasting on every TV in America, Michigan State Senator Mallory McMorrow just exposed the Trump administration and their GOP enablers for what they are:

A party willing to let children go hungry for political power.

Senator Mallory McMorrow revealed that there are years’ worth of funding available for SNAP — food assistance that our tax dollars have already paid for. And until THIS MORNING, the federal government’s website said exactly that.

So, what did Trump’s team do? They deleted the language and tried to hide it. They tried to trick the public into believing food benefits would run out in a shutdown. There is more than enough money to keep feeding families.

Let’s say it again and loudly. SNAP has funds. Contingency language already exists covering the costs during a government shutdown.

BUT the Trump Admin deleted it to manufacture panic and pain.

Why? Because Republicans are now openly playing hunger politics — holding kids’ meals hostage to score points in their shutdown game.

McMorrow didn’t mince words: “They are choosing to force children to go hungry. This is a choice.”

This isn’t “fiscal responsibility.” It’s not “tough love.” It’s state-sponsored cruelty — and they got caught trying to cover it up.

While Republicans whine about “family values,” Democrats are fighting to make sure kids can eat.

This is who they are. This is who we are. And we will never let them starve our future to feed their power.

Michigan State Senator McMorrow, say it louder. America needs to hear it.

It might not be years of funding for SNAP. However, “Fact Check: Are There Contingency Funds Available To Pay SNAP Benefits?” Newsweek

Connecticut Democratic Representative Rosa Luisa DeLauro said on October 28: “I am the ranking member on the appropriations committee and I promise you that there is funding available to provide SNAP benefits beyond November 1.

“There is at the very least over $5 billion dollar in contingency funds that Congress set aside.
