S.S. Retirement Age Increase Not Considered

It is hard to imagine the cutting of the Social Security benefit is the only solution on the table. If anything, the difference in what is spent and what is needed can be mitigated by increases starting next year. This may not solve the issues 100%. It will lengthen the time before no Trust Fund is available.

There is a lack of a numerical imagination in both political parties. Their retire is secure, so why should they be concerned what happens to their constituents? Anyway just a few thoughts. The Tr_mp appointed Commissioner is not wasting any brain cells in an attempt to solve the issue (other than cutting benefits) either.

“I think everything’s being considered and will be considered,” he said.

“The White House, which is completely committed to protect and preserve, and then Congress, that’s where the real work will happen. And that’ll take a while, we have plenty of time,” he told Bartiromo.

“Raising the retirement age is not under consideration,” it added.

“That team will get together, along with Senate and Congress, will ensure that this is here for the next 90 years, at least,” he said, referring to the trustees.

“[Americans] want their government to strengthen [Social Security] and expand it — not to cut it, contract it or gut its customer service,” O’Malley said at a House Ways and Means Committee hearing in March 2024.

“For those who would advocate raising the age, I think we have to be mindful of people who do hard work their whole lives, and die sooner,” he said.

Trump told CNBC there was “a lot you can do in terms of entitlements, in terms of cutting.”
