Let Trump earn the Nobel Peace Prize
Donald Trump wants to win the Nobel peace prize, but WAPO reports today that at least 3 of the 5 members of the prize committee have been publicly critical of Trump.
While this is hardly surprising, I think the committee should change its approach. Instead of criticizing Trump, sometimes for issues only tangentially related to world peace, committee members should flatter him and try to get him to change course. Acknowledge that he has made genuine progress in some conflict situations,* but argue that support for Russia’s territorial aggression would make him ineligible because territorial expansion by force is incompatible with peace. If Trump wants to be a peacemaker, he needs to give the Ukrainians the support they need to bargain from a position of strength and regain their lost territory. This means strengthening economic sanctions on Russia, and providing the Ukrainians with weapons and financial support. They should also criticize Trump for failing to follow through on his threats against Putin, which undermines American credibility and makes the United States weaker.
*Is this true? I have no idea, but it doesn’t matter.

Eric:
Trump loves cheeseburgers. I suggest we keep feeding him more. Freebies at McDonalds, etc.
Perhaps this needs to expanded to non-science areas. Ig Nobel Prize
The senile, orange psychopath should not be rewarded.
I assume that Trump wants the Nobel Peace Prize because Obama got one and a black guy getting recognition that he has not tears apart his entire sense of self worth–not the Greatest President Ever, Not “better than the world has ever seen before” etc.
That being said, in terms of Ukraine, somebody should remind him–actually tell him for the first time– that Neville “peace in our time” Chamberlain was nominated in 1938 for negotiating the Munich Agreement but did not win it. Apparently the majority on the committee did not think someone who ceded another country’s territory was deserving of the award.
I actually think Trump could win it by bringing an end to the genocide in Gaza. I do not see that happening because Trump identifies with Netanyahu’s dilemma of going to prison if he loses power. It would truly be a travesty to reward Trump with anything other than a prison cell for his friendship with and support of war criminals, but then I am still trying to get around the post reality world in which we live thanks to Trump and the GOP.
@Terry,
Word.
