This is what stupidity looks like, peeps.

This guy is Secretary of Health and Human Services. I don’t know whether to laugh or cry.

RFK Jr.: “If you are healthy, it’s almost impossible for you to be killed by an infectious disease in modern times because we have nutrition, because we have access to medicines. It’s very, very difficult for any infectious disease to kill a healthy human being.”

And vaccines. Because we have vaccines.

I’m old enough to remember polio. And there are polio victims who walk among us still: Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Mia Farrow, Mitch McConnell. I had a barber back in St. Louis who limped because of childhood polio. All those people were healthy when they were infected. Now, thanks to vaccines, polio is virtually unheard of.

Thanks to vaccines, smallpox is considered eliminated on earth.

Of course, measles had been effectively eradicated in the US thanks to vaccination until the right wing antivaxxers grabbed media attention and clowns like RFK Jr. amplified their ignorance to salvage his political career. Now, we’re seeing a small but growing measles epidemic among the unvaccinated.

There are no medicines that prevent or treat polio or measles. Or chicken pox, shingles, mumps, tetanus, rabies or ebola. RFK Jr’s lies and misdirection aren’t merely stupid, they are deeply dangerous.
