Why didn’t John Dillinger think of that?
“Johnson said he “wholeheartedly” agrees with Vice President JD Vance that courts shouldn’t try to control the president’s power as DOGE slashes through the federal government.
“The courts should take a step back and allow these processes to play out,” Johnson said at the Capitol.”
Pretty Boy Floyd. Al Capone. Bonnie and Clyde. All just victims of legal interference. Courts have no business adjudicating the law.

Yep, rightttt.
Mikie Johson is so afraid of Trump, he is not going to push back on anything, Trump or Musk. Musk has no business interfering with the government much less departments programs or personnel.
Congress is wimping out. The courts need to be involved and block programs and activities Congress has not authorized. It is not a dictatorship.
What’s your feeling on what is going to happen though? Of two recent rulings, I’m leaning that the TRO on spending freeze will be obeyed with some confusion at the start, but that several orders concerning Treasury Department operations may not be or at least not in a way that satisfies the plaintiffs or court. The Treasury payments operations will stay fully visible to DOGE. DOGE will not relinquish its position in the Treasury network and neither the Secretary nor particularly the President is going to force them to do so even if a court order is in place to do so. In fact, I’d be surprised if Trump has not already confirmed with Bessent that he runs Treasury, not a district judge. And by “he” I mean Trump.
@Eric,
No judge is trying to ‘run the Treasury,’ so that point is both true and trivial. What a judge is doing is blocking actions by the Trump Administration until a determination can be made of their legality. Neither Bessent nor Trump are attorneys. The judge is. Bessent and Trump need to stay in their lanes.
There is a reason for Trump to be careful about defying the courts. One or more of these cases are going to end up in the Supreme Court. Neither Roberts nor Coney-Bryant are likely to approve of defiance of court orders. If the Supreme Court rules against Trump on any of these issues, he is likely to lose public support.
@Jack,
From your keyboard to the eyes of G*d.
Cloudfare again. Fine on an original comment and MIA as a reply. Anyway, Joel what do you think is going to happen is the question I raised. The spending freeze is less important….over time Congress could act. Experience isn’t favorable, but it’s possible. As for Treasury operations decision, Lebryk quit nearly instantly once he knew DOGE was in. Trump smells something and will keep DOGE fully observing these systems. If that actually is possible under this court order, then fine. Otherwise the order will not be fully obeyed. I think the plaintiffs and the judge thinks the prior civil servant personnel will resume control without DOGE participation. I don’t think that will happen, but I could already be wrong.
they’ll try to impeach any judge that stands in their way….
there’s a movement afoot to amend the constitution so that Trump could run for a third term…it might be doable…state legislatures tend to be more red than the states are because rural areas have more representation…
Impeachment has no chance. Takes a 2/3’ds vote in the Senate. Third term if he outlives his cheeseburgers? Not much better. Amendments are hard work. Why would this Supreme Court want to keep dealing with his legal fantasies?
Trump/Musk don’t like court rulings that apply to them. On appeal, if SCOTUS rules in support of its own irrelevancy, that’s when Civil War II (CWII) begins.
Also, you have to really support the courage and integrity of some of these Judges. When thinking about why Members of Congress and other important officials aren’t standing up to this madness, we have to keep mind the power of POLITICAL THREATS. The power of POTUS, plus the enormous wealth of his unelected friends, make threats to persons & families a significant power to persuade GOP Congressional Members, Judges & others how to vote & act. Imagine if your family (wife & kids, etc.) was threatened or harassed.
Dems need to do everything possible to investigate this and call it out, and publicize it widely. Maybe a hotline where those in the know could anonymously report threats. We hear background discussions of the pressure some decision makers are under, but this needs to be detailed, documented, articulated and widely reported and publicized.
Remember Trump already pardoned his hit squad, not to mention all the other nut jobs out there, and money can buy so many undetectable threatening actions like unfortunate accidents, exposing closeted skeletons, blackmail, bribes, etc., all of which can be very effective in changing minds. Trump’s lifelong playground has been in the mob world and these techniques are well tested.
Hmmm, maybe we need guns. Pitchforks may not be enough.
@Jack,
That’s exactly what Trump is trying to provoke so he can declare martial law and cancel future elections to hold power indefinitely.
So maybe we should stick to pitchforks?
