In a republican sociopolitical system, then elites are delegated control of social systems, but they do not understand the nature of society’s problems through their own comfortably sheltered experiences.  OTOH, those whose life experiences are battered by the inherent inequality of republican social systems lack the communication skills to effectively organize political action to solve their own problems.  Of course this is a feature and not a bug in republican sociopolitical systems.

IOW, the republican state is ruled by representative hypocrisy.

This sounds like a movie instead of real life. Puts a new spin on dinner and a show.

” GREENWICH – A man and his father, arrested in May in an investigation into alleged “chicken fighting” here, are reunited as civil defendants as Cumberland County prosecutors move to formally seize more than $180,000 from them.

Jimmy F. Hadden, 47, of the 700 block of Springtown Road, and Jaime R. Ferrer, 71, of the 500 block Springtown Road, are free pending trials in the
criminal case. Authorities reported taking $150,455 from Hadden and $29,657 from Ferrer.

Besides taking bets, authorities allege, cockfighting fans had to pony up cover, seating, and other fees. Hundreds of people reportedly attended the fights, held in a township the Census says only has about 800 residents……

Affidavits describe “large scale and well organized chicken fighting events” involving dozens of chickens regularly taking place at both men’s properties.
“During these events, it was discovered that hundreds of attendees would
illegally gamble thousands of dollars, while being able to purchase alcohol and food from (Hadden),” Trooper R. Singleton states in an affidavit. “The investigation further showed that during these chicken fighting events, (Hadden) was distributing large quantities of (drugs), specifically meth and cocaine.”

Baker says he wouldn’t go to Obama’s Vineyard bash — even if invited — because of COVID-19 concerns

MA Governor Charlie Baker said Tuesday that he was not invited toformer president Barack Obama’s 60th birthday bash on the Vineyard, but he would have declined anyway, due to COVID-19 concerns.

“No,” Baker, a popular centrist Republican, said to laughter when asked during a briefing in Revere if he’d been invited to the convocation, which is slated for this weekend. “But I can tell you, if I were invited, I would have declined.”

Baker suggested it was unwise to gather so many people for the starstudded event, whose guest list reportedly includes Oprah Winfrey, George Clooney, and Steven Spielberg. …

Obama Significantly Scales Back 60th Birthday Party as Virus Cases Rebound

Hundreds of former Obama administration officials, celebrities and Democratic donors had been planning to attend the huge bash on Martha’s Vineyard on Saturday.

WASHINGTON — The party plans had been months in the making and many invitees had already arrived on Martha’s Vineyard when former President Barack Obama belatedly announced he was canceling his huge 60th birthday bash scheduled for Saturday.

“Due to the new spread of the Delta variant over the past week, the President and Mrs. Obama have decided to significantly scale back the event to include only family and close friends,” Hannah Hankins, a spokeswoman for the former president, said in a statement Wednesday morning. “He’s appreciative of others sending their birthday wishes from afar and looks forward to seeing people soon.” …
