Trolling . . .
Elizabeth Warren
Listen or read, your choice. This is presidential material for our troubled nation.
WOW. Chief Justice John Roberts just had to read aloud Sen. Elizabeth Warren's question…about whether he loses credibility for presiding over a trial without witnesses or evidence. https://t.co/vG08pjmhZH pic.twitter.com/G79ZdRljZj

While other senators were throwing questions at opponents, Warren decided to ask whether the Chief Justice has hurt the credibility of the Supreme Court by participating in a trial with no witnesses or evidence. And Roberts had to read the question per the rules of the Senate.
“At a time when large majorities of Americans have lost faith in government, does the fact that the chief justice is presiding over an impeachment trial in which Republican senators have thus far refused to allow witnesses or evidence contribute to the loss of legitimacy of the chief justice, the Supreme Court and the Constitution?”
Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) responded to Warren’s query, “I would not say that it contributes to a loss of confidence in the chief justice, I think the chief justice has presided admirably.”
When you play the stooge, one has to expect to be labeled as a stooge.
The lack of criticism of Roberts’ performance is disheartening. His only spoken words that I remember is for people to act civilly. He allowed lies to fly throughout the process without a murmur.
And to preside over a trial without witnesses clearly shows he had no taste for the truth, let alone justice. He just lost any respect he ever had as a Chief Justice. And he deserves to be called out for that on a consistent basis. It seems he only cares about his own standing, he should be reminded where that standing is on a regular schedule.
From the words of another Supreme Court member at the first impeachment:
“Here party spirit, political schemes, forgone conclusions, outrageous biases can have no fit operation. The Constitution requires that here should be a “trial,” and as in that trial the oath which each one of you has taken is to administer “impartial justice according to the Constitution and the laws.” the only appeal which I can make in behalf of the President is an appeal to the conscience and the reason of each judge who sits before me. Upon the law and the facts, upon the duties incumbent on that high officer by virtue of his office, and his honest endeavor to discharge those duties, the President rests his defense…
…It must be unnecessary for me to say anything concerning the importance of this case, not only now but in the future. It must be apparent to everyone, in any way connected with or concerned in this trial, that this is and will be the most conspicuous instance which ever has been or can ever be expected to be found of American justice or American injustice, of that justice which Mr. Burke says is the great standing policy for all civilized States, or of that injustice which is sure to be discovered and which makes even the wise man mad, and which, in the fixed and immutable order of God’s providence, is certain to return to plague it’s inventors.”
Roberts is so far behind this guy he cannot even see him.
I don’t like Roberts much myself. But it seems to me he did just what a judge is supposed to do. The Republican Senators on the other hand are evil.
And it is probably our fault that we let them get that way, or let evil men into the Senate (and the Supreme Court).
If we had been paying enough attention and took the trouble to learn how to play the political game as it is played in America, and not merely sat on the sidelines complaining, we probably could have prevented this.
Now that evil people control the Supreme Court and the Senate and enough state legislatures, it is not at all clear to me that we have a way back.
Far more interesting issue is the role of NSC in this impeachment story.
Potential whistleblower (actually CIA informant) was from NCS as were Fiona Hill, Alex Vindman and a couple of other major Ukrainegate players.
In this NSC coup d’état against the President or what ? About earlier role of NSC see
https://off-guardian.org/2020/02/01/secret-wars-forgotten-betrayals-global-tyranny-who-is-really-in-charge-of-the-u-s-military/
As for evil republican senators, they would be viewed as evil by electorate if and only only if actual crimes of Trump regime like Douma false flag, Suleimani assassination (actually here Trump was set up By Bolton and Pompeo) and other were discussed.
Currently they can wrap themselves into constitution defenders flag and be pretty safe from any criticism. Because charges that Schiff brought to the floor are bogus and probably were created out of thin air by NCS plotters, and senators on both sides understand this, creating a classic Kabuki theater environment.
Both sides are afraid to discuss real issues, real Trump regime crimes.
Schiff proved to be patently inept in this whole story even taking into account limitations put by Kabuki theater on him, and in case of Trump acquittal *which is “highly probable” borrowing May government terminology in Scripals case 😉 to resign would be a honest thing to do for him.
Assuming that he has some honestly left.
Which with statements like:
And
If highly doubtful. Actually it was the USA interference in Ukraine (aka Nulandgate) killed 15K Ukrainians, mainly Donbas residents and badly trained recruits of the Ukrainian army sent to fight them, as well volunteers of paramilitary “death squads” like Asov battalion financed by oligarch Igor Kolomyskiy
In any case it is clear that Trump is just a marionette of more powerful forces behind him and his impeachment does not means much if those forces are untouchable. This is just about restoration of NCS (real neocons) favored foreign policy from which Trump slightly deviated.
Likbez:
What is the topic of this post?
Likbez
whether or not Trump is a marionette he represents something evil, and the unanimous support of him, the rhetoric of that support, the refusal to call witnesses, while claiming the House refused to hear witnesses Trump had instructed to defy subpoenas… are evil.
And IF the Democrats participated in a Kabuki trial (hard to see why) then they would be complicit in evil…not for the first time.
Acquitting Trump, even for the “lesser” crime of seeking personal political favors from abroad introduces us to a new era of evil in America in which evil does not even need to hide its face.
Likbez,
“What you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.”
EMichael
wow. what a way to win friends and influence people.
Cob,
The problem in this country is that too many people are out to win friends and influence people, as opposed to figuring out what those people are and treating them as they deserve to be treated.
It’s almost like the Biden campaign and its ignoring of what the Rep Party actually is.
i think if we were all treated like we deserve to be treated we would al be dead.
i almost said something to likbez very similar to what you said, then i remembered how effective it had been when i told some people what i thought about the quality of their thoughts on Social Security.
I think we need to think more about winning friends and influencing people. That doesn’t mean we need to sell our souls.
having just read about a montana state legislator who thinks the constitution requires that we shoot or imprison “socialists” i don’t have a lot of hope we can win or influence everyone. but what we are doing now seems to be losing people we can’t afford to lose.
the Right plays to the worst elements of human nature. It has taken centuries for those who play to “the better angels” to make some progress toward civilizing the beast. now we seem to be losing ground rapidly.
i have just watched someone i know “tame” a huge pit bull with aggression issues. she did it with extreme kindness and fine perception of the dog’s feelings… which turned out to be mostly fear. you would not have suspected that dog had anything to fear. i have also watched people turn dogs who only wanted to be their friend into cringing or violent damaged animals by “treating them as they deserved.”
this is one of the few things i “know,” maybe the most important.
and i find it very hard to restrain my own anger.
Good luck with training Likbez to deal with facts.
Wrong !!!!

comment by you [“Wrong!”] showed up in my inbox but not here on AB.
My earlier comment in reply to EMichael [“Good luck…] also did not appear. it was

I never had any hope of that. But kindness takes practice, and if we don’t practice on the hopeless cases we won’t be ready for the cases where there is hope.
Coberly:
Never said “wrong” to you. I did say such to Likbez. Send that email you received to me please. I would like to see it.
Now we know laws are only for the little people and Democrats.
Lord
I wish I knew what you meant.
You’re a better man than me, Cob.
I simply cannot even think about kindness when this is written:
“Potential whistleblower (actually CIA informant) was from NCS as were Fiona Hill, Alex Vindman and a couple of other major Ukrainegate players.
In this NSC coup d’état against the President or what ? ”
This is beyond absurd.
Exactly who else from what department witnessed Trumps acts? Or were even in a position to do so?
Just mind boggling dumb.
EM
i realize it’s a figure of speech, but i need to say i am not better than you. i know less about what is going on, or what is said to be going on. and my thoughts towards…some people… are just as angry as yours, and so are my words much of the time.
but i know that doesn’t help either me or the need to change some minds.
You are right about the the need to change some minds. My point is that there are some minds that simply cannot be changed regardless of the facts.
Look at trump’s approval rate with Rep voters. It is beyond frightening.
Then explain to me how the entire country is not appalled by Limbaugh being given the Medal of Freedom. Half the country thinks he deserves it, and he is probably the most unamerican person in the world.
EMichael:
The author of the paper talks of healthcare organizations overcharging the state and the Federal government. He should be asked if the solution will be applied to Medicare Advantage programs which have over charged the Federal Government for treatment of elderly. Or doe it only applied to services rendered to the poor and minorities?
EM
I agree with you
some minds cannot be changed
rush is a traitor
republicans are frightening
still, i don’t think the way to fight this is by yelling at people.
and i have to work hard not to yell at them.
There is no other way to fight (online) with people who really only need one of two things in life to become functional adults; prozac or a baseball bat.
