Nothing like going in for the winning insurance goal coming after Team Captain Megan Rapinoe converted a penalty kick. Megan Rapione went on to win the Golden Ball as the most valuable player during the Women’s World Cup and the Golden Boot for being the top scorer.
Great goal. But can we give a shout out to goalie Alyssa Naeher and USWNT’s excellent defense? A total team effort!

My youngest son played at Ohio Wesleyan and the older at Lake Forest. The younger was the better of the two. If you are facing the goal at the corner of the penalty box (left side), he had a free kick. He faced the far right side of the field as if to pass to a forward on that side of the field. The goalie was occupying the goal the closet to him. He kicked and the ball went straight and then curved going into the right corner of the goal. He was versatile and could play up or back. The coaches at University of Wisconsin who I knew were betting on him when he was training. Very fast like his brother and on defense he dominated the field with his speed.
Just a story . . . Thank you for posting the clip. I watched the game after they had won. I coached B-Teams and I had a mixed girls and boys team. We played one of the best boys teams in Wisconsin. We lost 4-0 but the coach of the opposing team came over to say we were one of the best B teams they had ever played which meant a lot to my players. I knew the club and I took it as a compliment as they usually had their nose up in the air.

You can still get to it per the instructions I gave. It just takes you to YouTube firsts and there you have to click on the arrowhead to get to the clip. Thank you though. I do not watch this stuff as I am afraid I will doom them to a loss.
