Now I watch the GOP descend to its lowest level in my lifetime.

A government shutdown over the funding of a wall that has nothing whatsoever to do with immigration policy. Anyone with an IQ over double digits knows this wall will have absolutely no effect on drugs, illegal immigrants or sex trafficking. It is simply a racist appeal to the GOP base. Always has been.

I’ve lived in AZ for 15 years, and know way, way more RWDWs than I like to think about. They know this wall will do nothing, not to mention it is addressing a problem that does not even exist.

“Yes, there is traffic across our southern border. However, the net traffic entering the US is zero or lower. To put it plainly: more people are leaving than are coming in. This is not a crisis. It is not anything close to a crisis.

The number of undocumented workers in the United States has been declining steadily for a decade. It’s obviously not something to panic over. What’s more, anyone who’s truly concerned about the undocumented population anyway should be obsessed with E-Verify, not a wall. This is because a properly functioning E-Verify system would (a) be more effective than a wall, (b) stop illegal immigration from everywhere, not just the south, and (c) reduce all forms of illegal immigration, including visa overstays, which a wall can’t stop.

Trump’s obsession with a wall is a sign of unseriousness. The big businesses that run the Republican Party encourage it because they know it won’t work—and something that works is the last thing they want.

This whole thing is just a kabuki show. It’s ridiculous.”

Not just a kabuki show, it is rallying the base of trump’s support. Stone cold racists.

Amply proven by the lack of people screaming for pumping up e-verify. When Napolitano went after employers who hired illegals, whole blocks in phoenix emptied out, and some small towns.

The problem for the gop is that e-verify does not just keep brown illegals out, it would also keep the melania trumps of the world out, and that is not what they want.

    heh

EMike, you make the same arguments the NRA makes against gun “control”.

Why argue over a few billion for a wall when the pentagon loses several times that every week?

    Can’t you see?

Yes, I can see. I can see one man imposing his will and prejudice upon the US. This has nothing to do with dangerous immigrants crossing the borders as his Goebbels-figure said in a lie yesterday or the costs. The lies are so blatant. This is about a misfit in the White House pitching a fit because our nation’s representatives will not give in to his ego driven mandates. He needs to lose and be put in his place outside of the White House.

Lying racists caught by Fox News????????

“White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders on Sunday continued to push the Trump administration’s false claims that terrorists pour into the U.S. across the border with Mexico. But Fox News’ Chris Wallace wasn’t having it.

Sanders had a heated exchange with the host of “Fox News Sunday” as she discussed President Donald Trump’s threat to continue the partial government shutdown if his demand for $5 billion to fund a U.S.-Mexico border wall isn’t met by Democrats.

“Let’s talk about the wall,” Wallace said. “The president talks about terrorists potentially coming across the border.”

He then showed a clip of Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen stating Friday that “over 3,000 special interest aliens” trying to enter the U.S. from the southern border had been stopped by Border Patrol agents.

“But special interest aliens are just people who have come from countries that have ever produced a terrorist, they’re not terrorists themselves,” Wallace said. He also cited State Department reports that found “no credible evidence of any terrorist coming across the border from Mexico.”

Sanders responded, “We know that roughly nearly 4,000 known or suspected terrorists come into our country illegally, and we know that our most vulnerable point of entry is at our southern border.”

Wallace, ready to pounce, interrupted Sanders with a blistering fact-check.

“Wait wait, ’cause I know the statistic,” he said. “I didn’t know if you were going to use it, but I studied up on this. Do you know where those 4,000 people come or where they’re captured? Airports….

“Not always but certainly a large number,” Sanders said as Wallace continued to hammer his point.

“The state department says there hasn’t been any terrorists found coming across the southern border from Mexico,” he added.

Sanders, seemingly ignoring the facts laid out before her, said terrorists enter the U.S. “by air, it’s by land, it’s by sea” and that the southern border is the country’s “most vulnerable point of entry.”

“But they’re not coming across the southern border, Sarah,” Wallace persisted. “They’re coming and they’re being stopped at airports.”

Sanders continued to dance around the facts, saying that terrorists are “coming a number of ways.”
