Working on something on the Janus decision. Gov employees supposedly First Amendment protected from paying union agency fees (fair share dues) that support the general administration of the union. Supposedly, administration involves political speech because union contract negotiations are about controversial public policies. The only “policy” most negotiations are concerned with are how much employees are going to get paid.
The vast majority of employees are presumably of one mind when it comes to how much money to squeeze out of the gov — only difference might be about tactics. Where negotiations concern non pay matters it might be about something like school class size which employees are not against but at worst might just not care.
Conversely, if most employees decided not to pay any dues that would much weaken the heavy (as in major) freedom of association right of workers. Little free speech right on one side of the scale versus large free association need on the other.
BTW, will somebody explain to me the “constitutional situation” difference between city sanitation department that hires garbage collectors and owns the trucks and buildings — and — garbage collection outsourced to a contractor?
Yeah, too easy for shots at trump to take them, though it is beyond weird.
Meanwhile, I had a thought. Been over 30 years since I lived in DC, though I do go back there almost every year. I was trying to remember how close these restaurants were to the White House, so I did a search.
McD’s and Domino’s are pretty close, Wendy’s and Burger King are not. So, exactly how cold and old was the food served to these guys?
It is typical. A man of his self – proclaimed and boasted wealth could not spend a few pennies more? Melania does not appear to be a Quarter-Pounder person. Trump did it on the cheap.
