Go Loyola Ramblers
My Masters is from Loyola University Chicago. Stopped by for a visit with my Econ Prof as well as the school Dean and to see their new buildings. Smaller school and no more than 16,000 total.
Go Loyola University . . . Last time in the Sweet 16 1985. Last time winning NCAA 1963.
The city is totally behind them, nun or no nun! As you know, a lot of the students are “day hops” and this is a tremendous boost to their school spirit. My wife is also a grad and as we watched it last night at a Wings in Lafayette, IN, her shouts and groans had the room rocking. Go Ramblers!
Craig and I watched the game from Pequods, a place I had not been in since the eighties. Not much has changed with the pizza. Still great. My older son now lives in Park Ridge. As Craig and I were sitting there, he says; “look,” look and see who just walked in. My oldest son, wife and two of the younger in-laws. They were on their way to a Bruce Hornsby concert and decided to have some pizza beforehand.
I do not know how you win a game like they do. We either won big or lost big. A few more points on the board would be nice.
A great season for the Ramblers! Winner of their conference (25-5) and their first “run” at post-season play in 33 years.
We Americans love our underdogs, as it is a symbolic symbol of our historical struggle against conventional norms.
My only regret is the lack of a Sister or Brother, as the head
A different take on their team. George Ireland was the coach in 62 – 63 when they won it all. The present coach is just another Catholic raised kid who wanted to stay in Chicago. I do not believe it matters whether it is a Brother, Sister, or has a Catholic background when it comes to coaching. And then there is Sister Jean in the background who knows more B-Ball than most and probably you or I.
Villanova is in the Eight!
Yes they are in as was to be expected. It is hard to beat them.
