Naked Capitalize had a link to a story on Social Security this morning. I thought the article had too much spin and was wrong on some facts.

This blog is about the large discrepancies of the outlooks for SS by CBO and SSA. This is a topic that has been trashed around at AB a fair bit.

The author concludes that the CBO is involved with a conspiracy. But he fails to recognize that using either forecast SS has between 10 and 15 years before some serious things happen. Either way, it’s not that far off.

What is the betting that nothing happens with SS the next 4 years??

If anything “happens with SS” in the next four years, it will be attempts by the GOP to gut the program. That is clearly the aim of Ryan and the TEAparty right. My prophecy, FWIW (not much), is that some version of SS “reform” passes in the House, but gets balled up in the Senate, which doesn’t benefit from gerrymandering. If some consensus version finds its way to Trump’s desk, he’ll sign it, assuming he hasn’t resigned by then. President Pence would sign away SS in a heartbeat.

R-gDp is decelerating. Money is not neutral. The money stock can never be managed by any attempt to control the cost of credit.

I would welcome you; but, you have been here longer than I. 🙂 Happy New Year . . .

I had thought I probably was the only one who’d noticed that Trump never laughs. Turns out, though, that Chuck Todd also noticed that: http://www.politico.com/story/2016/12/chuck-todd-donald-trump-off-message-podcast-233066

Trump’s severely mentally ill, and I presume that has something to do with it. But also, he has no actual sense of humor and no whit. He’s mean and vicious, which doesn’t preclude whit and a sense of humor, but in his case operates instead of whit and a sense of humor.

    Damn. Wit. Not whit.

Beverly – You say: “Trump’s severely mentally ill”

How do you know this? Did you read about this? If so, please provide credible links. Or did you come to this conclusion because you have a PHD in Psych, or are you a Shrink?

If you have no credible source to your claim, and you have no credentials to make them, then you should stop. You are part of the “Fake News” problem. Every time you say something that is false, guys like me are going to call you out on it.

    You want credibility? Earn it………

is mentally ill. It doesn’t take a PhD to recognize that.

I guess there is at least a consensus of agreement regarding Trump’s mental status. I don’t adhere to this line of reasoning. Trump is simply a commonly observed smug and totally self centered person whose personal identity was distorted in childhood by his father’s excessive wealth. Donald did nothing to earn that wealth so he is likely to see himself as entitled to any and all satisfactions that may make themselves available. Throughout his career he has exhibited no redeeming personal skills other than self adoration at which he seems to excel. His obnoxious personality seems to have been well suited to the new genre of “reality TV” so he had the additional good fortune of being able to market his own offensive character.

There are others, however, that disagree with me and have provided some evidence of Trump’s more seriously disordered personality. Here’s a brief selection of just a few.
