On a whim I went to Google News and looked at the first four pages on a search of “Pence”. I thought it odd that there wasn’t really any harsh remarks at all about the man. He has been acting like a perfect “grown-up”, or at least his activities are being reported that way.
So in a moment of “tin-foil-hat” speculation, what if Trump suddenly discovers the stress of the campaign is too hard on his 70-year-old body.? Dropping out would have exactly the same effect in giving the election to Hillary by means of crazy things being said and done. It would also give his ego a lot of cover.
The election could proceed as in the past – a real contest between the two really different parties led by two adults. Never mind that on the issues of Neocolonialism and the TPP and several other things Hillary and Pence are two peas in a pod.
” As the CEO of Wetzel’s Pretzels, a company with more than 3,000 employees system-wide—many of them in California—I’ve paid very close attention to our business as California has raised the minimum wage over the past couple of years. And what I found was stunning.
” When California increased the state minimum wage from $8 to $9 an hour in July 2014, our same-store sales doubled in the next two weeks and stayed that way for six months. When the minimum increased again in January of this year to $10, the same thing happened; our same-store growth rate more than doubled. In fact, I recently received an email from a multi-unit Wetzel’s Pretzels franchisee who said his business has never been better and he’s convinced the minimum wage increase has a lot to do with it. ” http://www.forbes.com/sites/groupthink/2016/08/03/the-minimum-wage-hike-is-good-for-business/#520d13c234bc
Me:
If the min wage hike is priced right it could bring in more overall income to min workers for fewer hours of work — the first week. Come first payday those same dollars will be spent at firms min wage workers patronize — instead. Since folks tend to spend proportionately more at firms employing similar wage level workers, min wage employment could plausibly increase.
Which is exactly what Card and Krueger found in their seminal study.
In order to spend money a person has to have some of it. I’ve read that Wretched Walmart agitates for increased welfare simply so their customers have more to spend there.
The worst part about the far left in the US(even more so than the fact that they remain in their Terrible Twos their entire lives) is how they meander around without actually doing much. Sanders energized them, so for a while they coalesced into an organized(sic) group.
But when Sanders lost they were reduced to the normal state, meandering around wasting everyone’s time and basically complaining about anything and everything, without once giving a thought of how to change things(Hint: Interrupting speeches ain’t it).
Despite the fact I supported Sanders and voted for him, I have been called a hillarybot by some of the bros. Meanwhile, I find it interesting(and really sad and indicative ot the far left), that none of them have shown an interest in following Sanders any more.
And the incredible part is that Sanders is still trying to lead the party left and change the US. But only the Presidential election has the gravitas to have the far left get organized. When the real work is done, they skulk off to their corners once again.
How is it possible not one of the Bros(here or at EV) has brought this to everyone’s attention?
“His presidential aspirations behind him, Bernie Sanders is looking ahead to a busy future in which he continues to focus on nothing less than transforming the Democratic Party and the country.
In an exclusive interview with USA TODAY, the Vermont senator detailed plans to launch educational and political organizations within the next few weeks to keep his progressive movement alive. The Sanders Institute will help raise awareness of “enormous crises” facing Americans. The Our Revolution political organization will help recruit, train and fund progressive candidates’ campaigns. And a third political organization may play a more direct role in campaign advertising.”
EM it may have not occurred to you that Sanders sold his sole to the devil when he threw his whole political revolution behind HRC. That was political suicide. He will never again regain that opportunity to lead the political revolution. He was and always has been an independent and I totally sure today that if he had stayed independent he would still be gaining momentum over HRC and Trump. So sad too bad but opportunities like Sanders had only come once in a life time and there is only for a fleeting moment in time to act. This is why we study history so we do not repeat the mistakes of the past.. Sanders should had gone independent the moment he realized that the DNC was cheating him out. He probably would be leading in the polls right now…

Odds of 1,000:1 – Hello, President Hillary.
*tin-foil-hat* off again.
🙂
I was right!

How is it possible all of the Bros have not yet joined Sanders?

Cause they just like yelling, not doing.
