I’ve seen a lot of news lately about Global Warming, and none of it is good. A recent headline:

*** This is How South Florida Ends ***

    http://gizmodo.com/this-is-how-south-florida-ends-1783803198

Of course Florida is just the beginning of the beginning. Things are getting wore faster than climate scientists ever imagined in their worst nightmares. Antarctica is showing early symptoms of surface melting of the sort seen in Greenland for many years.

The very worst of all this is that nobody in authority cares.

Reminds me of a song. (We all have to burn something).

Zachary; I think some people in authority care but enough in authority don’t and are able to obstruct efforts to deal with it. Good grief! Try Miami and the streets flooding like Venice. They’re still putting up new buildings even though there is no way to block the water. There’s money to be made!

More confirmation of the reason Trump is the GOP candidate:

“Political scientist Lee Drutman wrote a lovely 4,800-word essay for Vox yesterday on how race and identity became the central dividing lines in American politics.

It’s a wonderful piece, and you should certainly read the whole thing. However, on the off chance that you were too busy to get all the way through it, I wanted to call attention to two striking charts that are buried pretty deep in the text.

They use American National Election Survey data to measure the difference in Republicans’ and Democrats’ feelings about black and Hispanic people — and they show something really shocking. Up until about 2004 or so, the partisan gap on these questions was narrow, and both Democrats and Republicans were growing generally friendlier to nonwhites. Then came 2008, Obama, and a massive resorting of sentiments. The partisan divide in sentiment became a chasm.”

The election of a black POTUS drove the racists out of their minds.

Here is the title of a press release from the right-wing Judicial Watch site.

*** Judicial Watch Submits Email Questions to Hillary Clinton – Written Answers, Under Oath, Due September 29 ***

    Examples:

“8. After President Obama nominated you to be Secretary of State and during your tenure as secretary, did you expect the State Department to receive FOIA requests for or concerning your email?

    9. During your tenure as Secretary of State, did you understand that email you sent or received in the course of conducting official State Department business was subject to FOIA?

    http://www.judicialwatch.org/press-room/press-releases/judicial-watch-submits-email-questions-hillary-clinton-written-answers-oath-due-september-29/

It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out so near the election. Another shoe not yet dropped are the emails WikiLeaks claims to have ready for publication.

I’m seeing some really crazy stuff this morning about the election. One story is about the evil Russian Hackers, and how they may attempt to steal the Presidency from Hillary and give it to the Manchurian Candidate Trump. WTH is going on with this? Are they setting us up for a new version of the 2000 election where the Supreme Court gave the White House to Bush?

    http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/russia-trying-tamper-us-presidential-election-vote-claims-senator-1578708

The other one is even nuttier, except with Homeland Security how can a person distinguish between ‘crazy’ and ‘real’?

*** Homeland eyes special declaration to take charge of elections ***

“Even before the FBI identified new cyber attacks on two separate state election boards, the Department of Homeland Security began considering declaring the election a “critical infrastructure,” giving it the same control over security it has over Wall Street and and the electric power grid.”

Fortunately this tale is still restricted to rightwingnut sites. I hope it doesn’t progress beyond Fairy Tale status.

    ZS,

Why do you keep bringing in links to these garbage sites?

I wasn’t aware that link snobbery was an issue here. Oh well…
