briefly, albedo is a measure of the reflectivity of the ice…what it means is that greenland’s ice has become punky & frail, & hence now absorbs more sunlight, rather than reflecting it back into space…this will hasten the melting…
I’m glad somebody is fixing their roof. Dean Baker said we’d have to.
But I am afraid the global warming problem is going to become much worse than the Social Security “problem” (hint: there is NO Social Security problem, except that Peter Peterson wants to kill it, and he has a lot of money he is willing to pay people to help him kill it.)
But yeah, we may all get to find out how boring it is living on a tropical island. And how hard it is to grow wheat on one.
Tipping points and climate change…
(sorry for not expounding, but in five minutes will be on the roof putting in a vent and sealing another up….ow ow ow in the sun).
tipping points in climate change
speaking of tipping points…the Gobsmacking albedo change on Greenland Ice Sheet, July 20, 2012 – graphic

I took advantage of the deal where you can put solar panels on your roof with no upfront cost.
I now have 34 panels on my roof and the maxine allowed is 40.
It is all installed and inspected and I’m just waiting for the utility –NSTAR — to authorize my turning it on.
