“The Lovins Paradox: ‘this old canard'”:

    http://ecologicalheadstand.blogspot.com/2012/03/lovins-paradox-this-old-canard.html

The Jevons paradox (energy efficiency/consumption rebound) may indeed be an “old canard” but it is based on the even older canard of the productivity/employment rebound. Refuting Jevons simply replaces one paradox with another — the “Lovins paradox”: that the energy intensity of employment is a stubbornly pessimistic index.

well, be that as it may, what is troubling my mind is that all those years Petersons boys toured the country warning about debts as far as the eye could see from Social Security, we now have debts as far as the eye can see, and they didn’t come from Social Security.  They came from the stock market.

and yet no one talks about that.  maybe we need a tour of our own.

AB was really on fire this week.  The post on the water data hub was a great highlighting of an issue which gets discussed far too rarely.  The AARP post was also solid, the cynical actions of that group really need to be brought out of the shadows.

    poppies
This is a terrific blog. It accomodates people like me who know essentially squat about the dismal science. And, many more like you who are free to express their views freely. I’m glad you are here. 😎 NancyO

Dont worry SARBOX and Dodd Frank will stop evil democrats like John Corzine. What a joke our governmnet is. I know we should have more of it.

Oh, pooh, McWop. This country has 300 million people. Think about it. Small governments you got in places like Libya, Sudan, and Somalia. QED. NancyO

Oh nancy, why do you democrat shills bring up Somalia when the crooks are right here. So bush gets excused, Goldman, the banks because we have 300 million people. Sorry to burst your bubble republicans and DEMOCRATS are corrupt thieves on a scale that makes somalia loom like small time bread thieves. But go on with the legislation hat is supposed to correct this. Cannot wait to seen Corzine run free.

sad to say i agree about the R’s and D’s  but nancy is no shill.  you would look better if you could make that distinction.

my own ignorant opinion is that the money people have got us.  nothing more we an do until it gets so bad people start thinking they have nothing to lose.  we’re not even close yet.  if the money people had a Roosevelt he could save them from themselves.

And to date who has gone to jail after the 2008 meltdown? Nobody. And cheats like Dodd (Coutrywide), Rangle (tax cheat), Frank (The guy who oversaw FNMA and FRE into oblivion). Nope nobody. Now Dodd has gone on to lobby for he suppression of the Internet. Are we close? Depends. We are dangerously racking up debt to levels, wher if things do not stay perfect, then we could default and inflate to the point where we resemble Somalia.

The Corzine deal is pretty rancid, although a possible new “smoking gun” email may have suddenly appeared. Keep the faith McWop.

Mcwop–Did you think it was the practice among the rich in this country to earn their money honestly? Honestly is what you say it is when you control a billion or so in personal assets and that’s the way it always has been. If you think this Congress is corrupt, you should have been around when Rockefeller and his pals ran the show. The study of American history is instructive, looked at from the perspective of who made it and who didn’t. Here’s a hint–it wasn’t ordinary people who came out on top. NancyO

    Mcwop,
Your zeal for rhetoric over facts puts your ideology into the zelot category.  Poppies’ comment, above, is certainly in spite of the absurd commentary that comes out of the Peanut Gallery from time to time.  Fortunately zelotry on Angry Bear has been under reasonable control of late.   You’ve managed to degrade the conversation with mischaracterizations while limiting your inflammatory bile to one identifiable group of elected officials.  Include the best of today’s Republican Party in your descripitive analysis of modern American elected officials and you may yet be taken more seriously.

I agree, the situation will have to become a lot worse before people in large numbers revolt. Only problem is by that time America will have such very close resembelance to Chinese totalitarian capitalism revolt will be impossible. Only another financial meltdown in the near future will arouse the people. Looming over all though is the certainty of global warming. Much suffering awaits the human race; but then the Tri Lateral has called for a maximum human population of two billion.
