Europe isn’t flying the unfriendly skies of America
It’s not just Tesla that is becoming poison in Europe:
“European airlines are freezing their transatlantic growth and pulling back from major U.S. cities like New York, Miami, Los Angeles, and Chicago as they redirect flights to Canada, Mexico, Brazil and Caribbean, where bookings are rising and demand is outpacing the American market. Carriers including Lufthansa, British Airways, Air France, KLM, Iberia, and SAS have adjusted their summer schedules to reflect shifting traveler priorities, with more passengers opting for destinations that offer smoother entry, better seasonal deals, and fewer political complications. The changes mark a clear retreat from the U.S. at a time when international sentiment is cooling and alternative routes are proving far more profitable.
“The decision to reduce flights is being driven by a sharp drop in bookings, rising concerns among European travelers about safety and border restrictions, and growing political discomfort tied to President Donald Trump’s second term. Airlines that had once expanded aggressively across the Atlantic are now turning their attention elsewhere. Internal forecasts, passenger surveys, and travel agency reports across Europe point to one conclusion: fewer people are planning trips to the United States this year.”
Making America Great Again, eh, Donald?
Europe cutting back on US flights

Joel:
Perfect follow up to the domestic airline cuts I presented. Europeans and I suspect Asians will not come to an Angry America as led by a hostile president to all nationalities. Why should they? The risk is being held by customs.
I hope they do blacklist the United States due to Trump.
It really is sad as many people from overseas looked to America and were thrilled to visit. I know because I would guide them around at times, take to dinner, and make sure they were not taken advantage of while visiting.
When I would travel into Europe or Asia, they would be my guide also. One president of the China plants even arranged for the company van to take us to The Wall and walk it. They took us to a restaurant they thought we would like. I could see a Chinese restaurant a short distance away.
We were walking towards it. Eating there would not be an issue. Instead, we turned the corner and went into a McDonalds at The Wall. They loved it. We had hamburgers. The only discouraging issue was the idiot I brought with me to help train him. He could no adjust to their ways and customs. He was what I called an “Ugly American.”
@Bill,
Yes to all that. And the hospitality industry (hotels, restaurants, recreation, sightseeing) will be collateral damage. I guess it will help them with their loss of employees as their undocumented workers are deported, but it will certainly cut into their profits. Perhaps Trump wants to re-shore tourism as well as manufacturing?
And Trump was supposed to be such a great business man.
Joel:
The mistake of calling him a great business man when he is really a great huckster.
