The Republican Study Committee Flunks the Exam
Yup. Definitely the way to go. No doubt about it. Rep. Ellmers has found the key.
Out of the mouths of babes. (One babe, anyway.)
Good grace.

PS: Thanks, Ms. Schow. Good job. And thanks, David Weigel. Excellent job.
Bev:
I picked up on Ellmers and Schow and Weigel. How does Cruz link to those three?
Women in Congress would understand the debt and deficit issues if their male counterparts presented it like a recipe.
Now just think of this like a cake or muffins. If we add a little bit of fiscal stimulus to the economy much in the same manner as you would baking soda or baking power to a cake or muffin recipe, the result would be the economy would rise just like a cake or the muffins would. I think that makes sense.
(disclaimer to all female readers: “just kidding” with Bev and we go back a long way.)
Funny that you mention Cruz, whose wife, Heidi (Nelson) Cruz, is, according to Wikipedia, “currently head of the Southwest Region in the Investment Management Division of Goldman, Sachs & Co. and previously worked in the White House for Condoleezza Rice and in New York as an investment banker.”
Mrs. Cruz’s husband must have patiently explained all that financial stuff to her. Without pie charts or graphs.
Bev:
Not funny, click on the Ms. Schow link and see where it takes you, hence my question about Cruz.
My post would have been funnier if I’d said: “… Without pie charts or graphs. But maybe with pies. Apple or cherry are best for the purpose, although in the fall pumpkin works well.”
Seriously, though … oooosh. That radio ad is interesting, because Cruz and Amash are, best as I can tell, on opposite ends of law-enforcement- and national-security-type debates–issues ranging from NSA mass data collection to local police tactics and such.
Hmm, “bring it down to women’s level”. Does remind me of the recently released Woman’s Choice Plank of the Texas Republican Party platform:http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/comment/2014/07/texas-republican-new-party-platform.html
“We strongly support a woman’s right to choose to devote her life to her family and children.”
Well alrighty then!
Since Ellmers is, unfortunately, and hopefully, for not much longer, my Congress Critter, I noted this, particularly:
………North Carolina Rep. Renee Ellmers, a leadership favorite who’s often put forward when the party wants a female messenger on health care or jobs, …….
We around here have known the GOP has been grooming her for bigger and better things, but we didn’t get too worried when we looked at their track record of promoting the fairer sex lately. Sarah Palin, Sharon Angle (ok I know, Tea Party), Michelle Bachman, etc., etc. I doubt any of these women can even bake a pie, let alone understand a pie chart.
But I’m sure that shrinking violet , Melanie Wilkes BS sells well in parts of this here 2nd district. Gag me.
