Target Obama: Cantor and Boehner Collateral Damage
I don’t know what to say here. Me I am on the other side of the same movement, in the US I am “feeling the Bern” as a Sanders guy and as an observer on the UK side chanting “Jez We Can!” for Jeremy Corbyn. That is I am totally down for a Renaissance of the New Deal and Old Labour. But I never expected that the post-Reagan consensus that come what may we have to massage the feelings of Wall Street bankers would come unstuck. By an all out assault from the Right.
The Center is on siege. At least as the Center is defined in Beltway terms. Populism is on the Move. Which isn’t always a good thing. Because Populism as it manifested from 1898 to 1932 and was pushed back by Imperialism/Fascism unleashed all too much.
Hyperbole? Yeah I do that. Hook for an Open Thread? I do that too. Take it from here.
The republicans are beginning to eat their own.
Here is a bit of history of eating their own. http://www.bradford-delong.com/2015/09/weekend-reading-winston-s-churchill-1934-when-german-national-socialism-lost-more-than-100-of-the-socialism-part.html
Stalin did it too.
The thuggee* GOP a party feeding hatred and preying on fear (fear of losing the illusory leg up over them they hate).
Hard to stay on course!

In the past, when I’ve argued that the GOP is going the way of the Whigs, I’ve heard the counter-argument that the Whigs were shattered by the issue of slavery, and that no issue today could play the same role.
My new rejoinder (influenced by discussions generated by Ta-Nehisi Coates) is that slavery is the issue today as it was in the early 19th Century. John Boehner was an extremist. He believed regulations hurt the economy and that “job creators” somehow also created customers. But he didn’t hate black people. And he didn’t want to return the white Protestant male to his position of unquestioned authority.
There is a structural gap between what it takes to win a neo-confederate primary and what it takes to be viable nationally. The gap is hatred. It’s not going anywhere until a rump GOP is replaced by a new party of the Chamber of Commerce. Enormous good will come if that party is not the party of Wall Street. But some good will come no matter what, as “racist” will cease to be an interest group that can be courted by a national party.
The “hate” black people is irrelevant. Most of these people who you say “hate” are creations of the government themselves, especially the New Deal. Without it, they would be very very poor.
Their is no “right-populism” because their is nothing to be populist over that matters to their pocket book. Nothing more than dialectical nonsense spouted by their rich masters. Once you understand that, comes the realization the dis-urbanization that not is only inner city, but now white suburbia is the next “real” populism. Once the collapse comes and nobody tries to stop it, will come the hatred, arming and future slaughtering, of the people you think are populists now. Don’t fall for the lie.
The post-modern thuggee party: greed is virtue fueled by hatred and fear.
If they can get you to believe absurdities they can get away with the greatest evil.
The New Deal gets in the way of indentured bondage.
