“And, Tom Bossert, you had been watching this for weeks and tracking the data — and tracking the data. Is where we are today, with the number of cases, number of deaths, where you expected us to be, better, worse, because many healthcare experts are showing, we are tracking with Italy, and that’s, obviously, not good.” https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/week-transcript-22-20-fema-administrator-pete-gaynor/story?id=69733494
The United States has a population of about 5.5 times that of Italy
On 18 March the United States had 5712 cases versus Italy’s 31,506 cases. (103 deaths vs 2503 deaths in Italy.)
On 21 March the United States had 17,251 cases versus Italy’s 47,021 cases. (201 deaths vs 4032 deaths in Italy.)
So with 5.5 times the population of Italy, the US had dramatically fewer cases and deaths.
Anyone paying attention to the news would have already read or heard that Italy was seeing dramatic increases in Covid-19 cases and deaths.
Comparing the United States to Italy was propaganda of the worst sort.
Let’s get the numbers out there for folks afraid of the size of the deficit spending that my be involved in saving civilization (if our Hoover in the White House doesn’t blow the chance).
If we run up a $10 trillion bill to “leave our grandchildren” to pay, by 40 years from now (giving the kids time for their kids to grow up and start paying taxes) — over that double generational span we can expect to produce $1000 trillion worth of goods and services — not to mention that inflation would probably whittle the bill down to $2-3 trillion by then …
… not to mention whatever the free gifts of technology are going to come along. I have a photo on my bureau of my early ’80s Adam computer. I figured there was going to be a big shakeout among all those small computers back then — Adam was produced by Coleco of Cabbage Patch Doll fame (which parents used to fight over at Toys R Us at Christmas time). I figured Coleco would be around and would support the Adam even if they stopped selling it (naive?). When Adam died Coleco gave Honeywell a five year contract to take care of it …
… not to mention practically free high-def movies at home.

Tracking Italy had little to do with population size fool.
If Trump wants to relax control measures, will he have rallies and shake hands?
Jim and Bert
it is really hard for me to understand your points.
complete sentences if not a paragraph would help.
Tracking Italy, and correcting for population size, should be a pretty good indicator of where we will be in about ten days.
What is the issue here?
