The New World ORDER
Paul Krugman has a terrific column today titled “Donald Trump, the Siberian Candidate,” but really he suggests that Trump is the Manchurian candidate. Krugman suggests that Trump is actually fronting for Putin on the world stage. I think he’s right.
The only difference between the Manchurian candidate in the movie and Donald Trump is that Trump, unlike the movie character, would be doing what he would be doing completely consciously and wittingly. In a word: treason. Or something darn close to it.
This is jarringly serious stuff.
I think the Clinton campaign and the Dem Party would be crazy not to run a series of ads, and soon, making and an elaborating on the points Krugman makes in that column, first and foremost Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort’s longtime ties to Putin folks and to other rightwing dictators. There also should be footage of Soviet armored tanks marching into Czechoslovakia in 1968 and Hungary in the mid-1950s.
I also think they should run ads juxtaposing video of Trump making some of his fascist-like statements (and pointing out that Trump repeatedly threatens the press, bars unfriendly media organizations from covering his events when he can) with footage of Adolph Hitler’s speeches in the early and mid-1930s. There certainly are significant similarities.
The ads should flash the slogan “The New World Order.” They should actually illustrate what type of order Trump has in mind.
This has crossed a line, and needs to become a major part of Clinton’s and the Dems’ campaign. I’m not sure—at all—that the Clinton, which strikes me as just as slow-footed as Clinton herself—is up to the task of recognizing and dealing with this, though.
And I do think, notwithstanding the gist of the comments in the comments in the Comments thread, that as a political matter I was right in what I said here yesterday. But, really, only if Clinton and her campaign actually inform the public of these specifics. And I don’t mean just via Twitter.

Yes; exactly. Clinton, her campaign and the Dem Party need to illustrate what Trump is leading the way toward.

I have been saying that Trump has been borrowing from both Hitler and Putin for some time now but I do not think that Crooked Hillary can make the case. I think the case has to be made by her surrogates, the media and the members of the GOP who have not sold their soul to Trump’s supporters. Remember to Trumps biggest supporters the Hitler and Putin talking points are a feature not a bug and it is only those who can not bring themselves to vote for Hillary no matter how much they dislike Trump.
Krugman also links to a Salon article that is more than a little paranoid in tone, but does dredge up a lot of interesting connections. If I had the time I’d click through and read everything, but it’s a pretty lengthy document.

Any one connection might be inconsequential, work with the same people in business for a while and you’re quickly surrounded by their associates. Trump’s overall personality is also not particularly strong, he’s like a dog begging for attention, so he’s going to just be attracted to these sorts of people who actually have power, and he’ll try to project that power image back to the world. It makes him a very useful idiot.

Whatever, climate change is slower suicide than nuclear winter.
With Trump the nuclear winter risk is a bit lower.
People that say things like “Crooked Hillary” should try not to talk, as their voices have been stolen by the RW media.
Terry, aside from Putin’s anti-abortion stance (which is not because of any religious conviction, but just the population crash in Russia), what of his policies do you not like? He is for a strong central government, including government control of the economy. He is for universal health care. He is anti-Israel.
President Clinton even liked Russia, and went there for a week in 1969.

Maybe because he is not so good on gay rights or the basic concept of democracy? Putin is a brutal literal professional thug. Because what else are you going to call a career KGB man?
And like most you have fatally confused the entire concepts of “anti-Israel” and “anti-Likud”. Likud is not Israel. No matter what Netanyahu might think. And Bibi is actually among the most rational among the leaders of his coalition. Others are whom are openly eliminationist promoters of Greater Israel.
