Health Care Thoughts: Another Major Event
On the 23rd the Obama administration will publish the administrative regulations for Medicaid expansion.

As reported by Modern Healthcare, eligibility will be simplified to an income test as a percentage of the federal poverty level. This may expand Medicaid by as many as 17 million recipients by 2016. There are a number of administrative issues addressed, many focused on simplifying and streamlining processing.
I should have said “eligibility processing” int he final sentence.
I’d forgotten about the 133% FPL medicaid qualification coming for everyone.
States in the South won’t implement the ACA no matter what the Supremes say. Their idea will be to let the federales foot the bill for implementation, I believe. Northern states with Dem or moderate legislatures will follow the law, and will probably profit thereby. More jobs for medical providers and staff, more clinics and other medical facilities, etc. It will be interesting to see what happens then. It could be that by being recalcitrant, the Southern states will actually push the national health care system to single payer. Oy! Was ein mischegoss! We’ll see. NancyO
