Pro Publica and bailout lists
Barry Ritholtz at The Big Picture points to Pro Publica regarding Tarp and other bailout monies:
Pro Publica has been maintaining a list of bailout recipients, updating the amount lent versus what was repaid.
So far, 938 Recipients have had $607,822,512,238 dollars committed to them, with $553,918,968,267 disbursed. Of that $554b disbursed, less than half — $220,782,546,084 — has been returned.
Whenever you hear pronunciations of how much money the TARP is making, check back and look at this list. It shows the TARP is deeply underwater.

rdan,
Fannie and Freddie are not part of TARP, so you might want to edit the post.
Dan,
That’s a great post. Glad you snapped that up.
The list is loooooooong. Amazing.
Dan said it right.
Pro Publica also clarfied the list with this opening (at the link):
“We’re tracking where taxpayer money has gone in the ongoing bailout of the financial system. Our database accounts for both the broader $700 billion bill and the separate bailout of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.”
“Below is the list of companies to which Treasury has committed money. “Revenue to Government” shows the amount that has been paid to the Treasury Department through interest, dividends, fees or the repurchase of stock warrants. Click on each recipient for more detail on the transactions.”
LOL sammy. Fast readers!…I also read the posted final copy and changed it. Hat tip ilsm for the link.
Rob… ??????. I see critical comments on CBO reporting on TARP.
Rapid correction!! Sorry, sammy.
I lost the bubble; the list/link does not include the MBS’ bought from foreign banks two of which accounted for >$500B US. Might have been in comments on TBP.
And this post Lehman going down!
I know a person who took a haircut owning a Lehman bond. A reason to diversify and not be in the one firm which is made the scapegoat.
Any post by Waldman on TARP.
